WOW! 🤩 We are still reeling from such an incredible day spent with our community at Be My Neighbor Day! HUGE shout outs to our staff and volunteers, to our sponsors @epbchattanooga , @cocacolaunited , @chattlookouts , and @plainviewoutdoor , to our many non-profit partner organizations that joined us on the lawn, to our guest readers and performers, to our volunteer ASL interpreters, and of course, TO YOU! We were so thrilled to partner with our friends at the @bessiesmithculturalcenter this year to help bring this event to an all-new neighborhood - THANK YOU! We can’t wait for next year! #ChattaNeighbor

@WTCI_PBS showed up big for Be My Neighbor Day at the @bessiesmithculturalcenter ! We brought @carlthecollector , @lylaintheloop , and @danieltigertv , and Chattanooga families brought the joy. Games, hugs, dancing, and community love all day long. This is what neighbors do. 😊

Thank you @pbskids for being the safe & trusted programming you’ve always been since before we had our own kids.💜 This is what representation looks like for our little black girl: @lylaintheloop 🤎🎀💆🏽‍♀️ Beauty, brains, hair & a whole lotta #BlackGirlMagic If you’re looking for better screens time options for your kids, PBS KIDS should be in constant rotation. (This is not an add, we’re real life supporters & this game gets up through hair days🙌🏽) #screentimeforkids #pbskids #kidsgames #representationmatters

There’s something really special about watching your child light up because they feel seen. 💛 Watching @lylaintheloop has been more than just screen time for us.. It’s been connection. Seeing a Jamaican-American family like ours, hearing the voices, and recognizing those little cultural details… it mirrors so much of what she knows and feels every day. And on top of that? It’s actually teaching, building confidence, and making her curious. This is what inclusive, intentional children’s programming should look like. They also have games that teach problem solving skills, how to care for natural hair, and more. As well as a podcast for the screen free days! @pbskids did an amazing job with this one! 💛

As a Black mom raising two boys, I’ve learned that representation isn’t just about entertainment. It’s about identity. It’s about confidence. It’s about helping our children understand that they belong in every room they walk into. This Black History Month, we’ve been intentional about what we watch in our home. These are some of the shows that celebrate Black joy, curiosity, creativity, and everyday life. Because our children deserve to see: Black scientists. Black explorers. Black friendships. Black imagination. And honestly? I wish I had this growing up. I created a full list of 50+ Black children’s shows on my blog to help families build a media environment that pours into their kids. ✨ Save this list ✨ Share with a parent ✨ Tap the link in my bio for the full guide Which show should we add next? #BlackHistoryMonth #blackfamilies #diversekidsshows

Today marks the Lunar New Year. I drew Everett from Lyla in the Loop, Wanda Li from The Magic School Bus, and Ji-Young from Sesame Street, wearing their traditional clothing from their respective countries. Everett is Vietnamese, Wanda is Chinese, and Ji-Young is South Korean! Lunar New Year isn't just Chinese New Year; it is celebrated in Vietnam, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brunei, and among Tibetan and Mongolian countries! #pbskids #lunarnewyear #설날그림 #春节

Today we spent the day with our friends at @rcsdnys Children’s School of Rochester for #worldreadaloudday and the #globaldayofplay! We played with @pbskids and brought the series @lylaintheloop to life with kindergarten and first graders! We learned the carrot cake dance, designed our own super silly sandwiches, and played the game Lyla and Stu‘s Hairdos. Thanks for letting us celebrate reading, play, and learning with you today!♥️📖🖍️
