🐎 @bukubukubooks and @lydsothebread are seeking submissions to be part of our collaborative zine: Lunar Intersections, a correlation and coexistence of Chinese New Year and Ramadan falling on the same day this year in their respective lunar calendars 🌝🌙 🥠 While this overlap is historically uncommon, the coexistence of these celebrations is not unusual across many parts of Asia. Whilst Asian identity in the Western imagination is often reduced to a monolith overlooking its complexity and intersectional identities, in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia, Ramadan and Chinese New Year are often celebrated and observed in parallel with one another. 🔖 SUBMISSION: In light of this, we would love to see submissions that explore (but are not limited to) the following ideas: 🍊 Exploring the coexistence of culture and celebrations 🍊 Intersectional identities & shared traditions 🍊 Paying homage to food, tradition, culture, & gathering 🍊 Reimagined celebrations among the diaspora in the metropolis 🍊 Decolonising and reclaiming spaces, customs and narratives 🥢 We invite submissions of all creative visual forms:  writings, poems, photographs, conversations, recipes, sketches, ephemera, and beyond.  🥡 NOTE: You do not have to observe or celebrate either/both Chinese New Year or Ramadan to contribute - we would love to hear your own unique experiences and perspectives!
