In all the calamity, despair, and heartbreak that this year brought, some incredible blessings reared their beautiful heads, too. For me, working with some of my favorite people to bring Taylor Mac’s Holiday Sauce from the physical stage to the virtual one was one of those blessings. I’m so fortunate to have gotten to spend the last couple of months working with @taylormacnyc@machinedazzle@mattraymusic@robertkolodny@adurasova@pomegranatearts@tiggerlesque@alisaregas@slowjamnation@clgreenie@adamkolodnydp@j.k._all_day@steffchris the list goes on. I think it’s very possible that I just did my first Instagram live dj set and only one person saw it. And I have terrible internet in my workshop. And, I have no idea what I’m doing. And I didn’t tell anyone I was doing it. I have some things to work on.
Covid lockdown travelogue #2: September 8, 2008, Varanasi, India. We were on a one month backpacking adventure through India. Every day brought new amazement, but being on a rowboat in the Ganges, in the holiest city in the Hindu world was beyond compare. Every view of the ghats was more vibrant than the next. I’ll never forget that day.
Covid Lockdown Travelogue #1: Man, do I miss being able to leave the city. I realize that since we can’t go anywhere, that maybe this is a good time to look back on some of my favorite travel moments. Everyday, I’ll pick a place that pops into my head, and post it here. Let’s see how long I can keep this up. April 7, 2013, Gaulding Cay Beach on Eleuthera, The Bahamas. One of the most stressful trips we’ve taken, because it was the first with our daughter who was 3 months at the time. But finding this beach made it all worth it.
