This is not just a cover of Discovery Channel by Hayley Williams - this is an art film. A representation of intimacy, power, and the blurred lines between passion and harm.
Things get weird in this cover and I highly recommend watching it, but I may be biased because I spent at least 7 hours on it.
I mixed in stock footage of wild animals with some intimate human moments to show how romantic acts like kissing and beyond can actually become barbaric, like gnashing your teeth and getting blood on your lip from kissing someone too hard (not that I’ve ever kissed anyone)
I think it’s easy to get caught up in the familiar lines we sang as children, “you and me baby ain’t nothing but mammals, so let’s do it like they do on the discovery channel” and immediately think of the cheeky innuendos that line brings. But for me, that line in this song speaks more on the imbalanced and predatory power dynamics in an unhealthy relationship. How someone can hunt you then devour you, just as a wild animal stalks its prey. Destruction skewed to be desire.
This cover is also one of my first ones that I’ve shared where I’m using more of my chest register and I even scream (as you can hear in this clip) though softly even still, which I think is another layer of the sort of soft female rage this song encapsulates.
So enjoy the art film cover. Covers for me are more than just playing and uploading songs. It’s good practice for me to explore music production, layering sounds, content creation, and finding my own songwriting style. Similar to how painters learn to paint by copying masterpieces, I use covers to grow as a musician.

My bi-annual YouTube cover is up!! This one is Man of the Year by Lorde. Some people use this trending song to display videos of Justin Bieber being mean to Hailey, but idk I kind of like the song Yukon on his new $wag album. I’m still not sure I know what Slide City means though. Anyway, I had a lot of fun covering this Lorde song and making the video! Today I turned 30 in Paris, France! Luckily for me, they make vegan croissants here. It’s always been my dream to visit Paris and I’m very grateful to have ended my 20s (period) in Paris and to start my new decade here 🙏🏻 I’ve loved experiencing French culture and I think everyone should be able to visit other countries and dare I say, even live in them if they want to!!!

I moved back to Portland from Colorado on December 10, 2024. But today (June 10) is my Portland anniversary!! And I’m counting it as the full 6 years with a weird , brief 8 month Colorado affair mixed in there somewhere. I have returned to Portland, my loyal and beautiful wife. I hope I can just be an example that you can always always start over and I honestly highly recommend starting over. And then starting over again. I am so proud of the version of myself that accepted I wasn’t satisfied where I was and packed all my stuff into my car (by myself) and drove 18 hours (by myself) back home. My mom said I’m the bravest person she knows so yeaaaa nbd 🤷🏻♀️😭 A very special shout out to my bestie who I love so much , @liiizziiieee for letting me and Eli live with her and Charlie dog in PDX until I got back on my feet. 😭😭💕💕💕

Awwww I got an 8 year old roll of film developed from when I went to Yellowstone / Grand Tetons / Salt Lake City. That film / camera has survived so many moves. And now it’s fully developed! Hmmmmm…..
