This isn’t a new statement. For years, our commitment to equality has lived openly on our website. It’s not hidden. It’s not buried. You can find it anytime through the link in our bio under “Our Commitment to Equality.” Every time I restate where we stand, we lose followers. And that’s okay. Popularity's never been the goal. Integrity is. Lately, I’ve been finding it harder to post joy. Not because joy doesn’t exist, it does, in abundance, but because holding joy while witnessing so much harm feels complicated. I’m an empath by nature. My heart is built to create beauty, tenderness, celebration, and connection. It is not built to carry this much collective pain without pause. Post pandemic life has been heavy. Running a small business rooted in celebration has felt harder than ever. I know many of you feel this too. I hear it in consultations every week. I hold space for my clients constantly. And I think it’s time we start holding space for the humans behind the brands as well. This work has always been more than weddings for us. Since 2011, long before marriage equality was law, we produced the first LGBTQIA+ wedding event in our region. We have stood in solidarity, loudly and consistently, long before it was “on trend.” We donate monthly to the @aclu_nationwide and the @humanrightscampaign A portion of every $ we make goes monthly to organizations protecting civil rights, bodily autonomy, and human dignity. That has never changed. Silence right now is the problem. That doesn’t mean you can’t find joy. It means joy and awareness must coexist. I’ll continue sharing beauty here. I’ll sprinkle in joy, art, celebration, and light, because that is also resistance. But I will not stop naming what matters. If that makes you uncomfortable, that’s okay. Growth often is. One of my favorite parts of producing a wedding or special event is getting the gallery back from the photographer. After 17 years and hundreds and hundreds (and 100s!!) of events later, I honestly have so much content I sometimes end up with complete content paralysis. There are endless beautiful details, gorgeous portraits, incredible design moments…but somehow, my favorite images are usually the ones no one is going to print. The in-between moments. - Welcome champagne waiting to be passed. - Floral catching the light just right. - A table before the room fills. - Tiny details. Warmth. Atmosphere. Because the essence of an event isn’t just the aesthetic. It’s the feeling inside of it. The energy. The frequency the room gives off✨️ And photographers like Bryan capture that beautifully. They notice the quiet moments most people overlook and somehow make them feel alive all over again. #cocktailhour is one of my favorite parts of any wedding. After nearly 600 weddings (17 yrs in!), cocktail hour is still one of my favorite parts of the day, I love to step back and watch. This is where the magic really happens🥹 People reconnecting. Hugging. Meeting for the first time. Seeing kids all grown up. Sharing stories, laughter, and that unmistakable feeling of collective joy (which feels SO GOOD) The energy during cocktail hour is palpable. Honestly, sometimes even more than the reception dining itself. And when couples pair that atmosphere with beautiful, approachable food and thoughtful service? It becomes an experience guests actually remember.
