In honor of Haiti celebrating 222 years of independence this year, I decided to make Soup Joumou for my family! This was my first time making soup, and I had so much fun creating. I felt very connected to my Grandma and my ancestors doing it!! 🫂🇭🇹
Soup Joumou is a dish eaten by the Haitian people in order to honor the struggles and the victories of Haiti’s war against oppression from France in 1804. This meal is crafted every year to emphasize that against all odds Haiti prevailed! Praying for a safer Haiti in the future always! 🇭🇹
