‘Long Way from Home’ started with Afrobeat-inspired percussion I recorded in the studio with @jj_crowbar on guitar. I liked the vibe, but I left it untouched for a while.
When @petejosef added his vocals and harmonies it suddenly became really interesting, but I still couldn’t figure out the arrangement.
At some point I had the idea to add brass and move away from a more traditional song structure. When @luukhof91 came in on trumpet, he completely lifted the track, especially the way he plays in the spaces between the vocals.
That’s when it finally clicked for me, and it became one of my favorite tracks on the album.

Coming back from a 3 month sabbatical in Brazil.
I’m very grateful that I had the opportunity to do this. I’ve met beautiful warm people, saw an amazing music culture, beautiful nature and 3 months of no agenda. My plan was to Plan as less as possible and be open for the experiences that unfolds along the way. It gave me space to breathe and to calm down my nervous system. I feel inspired, and now I’m back in Amsterdam I need to
adjust 🥶
Every day I try a to do a little bit to get into action, do sports, make music, cook some healthy food and trust the process. It’s good to be back, but it isn’t always easy.
Thankful for the people around me, close and far away.

The coming days I’ll be traveling with only 1 dry bag and my kite, together with @anna.goodday to Ilha do guajiru (about 200km) Being fully in the elements 🌊💨
Grateful that the fase of rest and celebration has arrived.
After a long period of hard working, reaching goals, failing, trauma healing & the pressure from society i made the choice to slow down and get out of the rat race for some time.
Not only because I want this, but I need to do this. I’m looking for a more sustainable way of living. Time to reflect and make some plans for the future.
The coming period I will be re-discovering Brazil, a place that always warms my heart. Looking forward to working on new music and the experiences that are ahead❤️
