When writing Midnattssol, I silently asked for help and direction. Every day a little more space to listen. Suddenly, with perfect timing, I could hear the land talking to me. I had long conversations with the pines, always welcoming me no matter how I showed up. I had strong visions, almost like the place was showing me memories of what had happened here before, past generations coming through the landscape, hunting and working hard between the trees.

âMidnattssolâ was the first song that came to me after becoming a mother. I walked and walked in the forest where I grew up, carrying my daughter on my chest. She was sleeping and I was kind of processing the new, slowly landing in everything, in the silence of a sleeping baby, in this new body after the loud physical experience of carrying and giving birth.
The mix of thoughts and worries and a much bigger heart hanging on the outside. I silently asked for help and direction. Every day a little more space to listen. Suddenly, with perfect timing, I could hear the land talking to me. I had long conversations with the pines, always welcoming me no matter how I showed up...
I found myself humming this melody that reminded me of another time, kind of my grandparentsâ generation. A little bit influenced by âdansbandâ, it made me laugh; I almost thought someone was playing a joke on me. The melody made me see this generation between the trees, hunting and working hard. I had strong visions, almost like the land was showing me memories of what had happened here before. The dead pines telling me secrets and the sensation of wet moss under my feet guiding me in the right direction.
