Happy Earth Day! At Lund Opsahl, we’re helping drive conversations around embodied carbon, material use, and design efficiency—starting with the SNAIL, our Sustainability Nutrition And Information Label. By sharing this data on our drawings, we’re working toward a more transparent and sustainable future. Learn more about the SNAIL and how it’s making an impact.

We’ve received a JUST 3.0 Label from @living_future , an important step in our ongoing commitment to transparency, equity, and accountability. The process challenged us to take a clear, honest look at our policies, practices, and values. This label serves as a baseline, highlighting where we’re on the right path and where we could to better for both our employees and our community.

Sometimes the best design is the kind that disappears. Lund Opsahl's Shawn Roberge, Keva Rollins, and Kristen Gaer write for STRUCTURE Magazine about the Forest Trailhead at the Woodland Park Zoo, designed in collaboration with @lmnarchitects , @sellen_construction , and @freresengineeredwood .
Defined by sweeping curves of exposed timber, 75-foot-long curved mass plywood laminated (MPL) beams pushed the limits of transport and installation, demanding a solution as elegant as it is engineered.
"The Forest Trailhead roof is more than a shelter; it is a gateway to exploration. The concealed splices allow the beams to sweep uninterrupted across space, their curves leading visitors’ eyes into the forest beyond. By concealing the complexity of the connection, the architecture can take center stage. The joint becomes a silent partner, unseen, but essential, supporting form, light, and material rather than competing with them."

Last Friday, our team headed to @woodlandparkzoo to celebrate the grand opening of our Forest Trailhead project! Walking among tree kangaroos, red pandas, and our own designs, was a pretty great way to end the week.

Happy Earth Day! 🌎 Today, we’re dreaming of being among the trees.
Starting this May, you can do just that at the Woodland Park Zoo Forest Trailhead, opening May 1. We can’t wait to stroll along the elevated canopy path, wander among tree kangaroos and red pandas in the treetops, and immerse ourselves in the project’s sustainable design.

Last week at @living_future , we had a blast connecting with professionals across the industry.
Throughout the conference, our team explored the latest life cycle analysis tools and the Living Building Challenge, while sharing ideas and learning alongside fellow JUST organizations.
Thanks to everyone we connected with doing this important work. We hope to see you next year!

We had a great time at the Seattle 2030 Vision Awards- the energy was palpable, and the future of sustainability feels bright. While we didn’t take home an award, we were grateful to be among such a dedicated community! Congratulations to all the winners!

Home Refresh | Layers of Color + Texture
Who says renovations can’t be fun? This project began with a family who knew exactly how they wanted to feel at home - surrounded by color, texture, and a warmth that makes every room worth lingering in. Soft orange walls wrap the interior in a continuous richness, punctuated by a bold black-and-white tiled fireplace that speaks to the family’s love of graphic, unexpected detail.
A redesigned stair and railing brings new craft and intention to the heart of the home. Warm wood floors and richly colored furnishings complete a palette that is layered, tactile, and full of life. The result is a home that is unmistakably theirs.

We’re excited to announce that Lund Opsahl’s Sustainability and Nutrition Label (SNAIL) has been named a finalist for the Seattle 2030 District 2026 Vision Awards.
SNAIL helps project teams better understand the embodied carbon and sustainability impacts of structural systems, supporting more informed design decisions early in the process.
Our team will be at the awards on April 8!
Please join Lund Opsahl in celebrating Women’s History Month! In this panel discussion, we’re spotlighting women leaders in AEC whose expertise is shaping the future of the built environment.
