There’s a wall down town,
It’s opposite the forge.
We have tea at the forge.
Sometimes we visit the forge.
Unconscious of it’s existence
A halo escape-
We wait for the forge to visit us.
Next to the forge... UNTITLED ...
I think jazz in the basement yearns for this wall,
Holds memoirs of unsaid chants
This wall holds a memory
A memoir.
We say to this wall ...
Sonnets of a yearning sax
The kids wait for your return
For GODOT this too shall be history.
“But we love jazz”
The kids chant!!
We love jazz… don’t we ?
But we do…
The wall stares back
Folds itself into love letters
Bends itself over and over
Crack by block by stain by dust by leaning.
The inner child
Maybe this wall is perfect.
And so we wait
For the sun to set
For midnight sonnets
The echoes in the city fade into a slumber
It’s midnight
Black boys turn blue under the moonlight
Crescent songs dancing on the edges our skin
There’s a wall opposite the FORDGE
Next to the FORDGE
An UNTITLED BASEMENT
Holds these memories at bay
KIDS
LOVE
JAZZ
EZRA

And this here is my pillar
The oracle of my existence
The oasis of my embodiment
In her time exists
Stars are born
Constellations seek approval
The wind is kind to this here body
This here is time
She breathes forgiveness
Echoes kindness
Lives the word
Here, scriptures are memorised
If anything
I thank the heavens for holding on to your existence
In the kind words you so cherish
“ in anything you do, be kind, the world isn’t such a bad place “
