Over the past 6 weeks @annewfehres and myself have been part of @contextplovdiv , an artist residency in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. During this time we have undertaken the ninth edition of @news_from_home , a project which explores the overlooked and omitted stories of a community. During the residency period we walked over 240 km in the city area, capturing 1000s of photos of the community. A selection of these photos were later cut up in Photoshop and digitally combined into a large photo-montage work. The final piece features over 500 individual layers, which come together to reflect on various stories from this community, ranging from its ancient history, its socialist past, its present day and imagined future. The final piece was printed out and pasted up to cover a 5x4 metre wall in the centre of Plovdiv. Here, we hope a broad audience can view and enjoy the work, reflecting on the city as a resident or someone passing by.

We’re excited to share that "My Little Tragedy", winner of the @stichtingsymbio Art Prize will premiere at @oerolterschelling 2026 as part of the Visual Arts Programme. Set in a club, this new interactive video installation begins with a washed-up plastic pony from the 2019 MSC Zoe container spill. Eroded by the sea and covered in sand, it has had a revelation. What follows is part confession, part invitation, as the pony calls on visitors to lend their voices to a strange collective encounter somewhere between karaoke, ritual, humour and discomfort. Created by @nullshima_studio with sound design by @studiozweerts , the work turns plastic’s long journey through oceans, homes and bodies into something oddly intimate. Premiering June 2026 at Oerol Festival More soon! #Oerol26

We’re very happy to share that Revival Roadshow has won the Social Impact Award at @filmgatemiami Interactive 12. Working closely with a brilliant group of collaborators, we developed the project as a team of two, leading all stages from research and directing to filming, animation, and production. It means a lot to be recognised alongside so many strong works. The project draws on historical archives and unfolds within an absurd future setting, engaging with questions around colonial histories, plastic pollution, national identity, media manipulation, and attention economies. Rather than offering answers, the work aims to open space for reflection. We’re grateful to the jury, @juliewalshvr and @avmakesthings , for recognising the project, and to @pink_kraken and the entire FilmGate team and community for such a generous and inspiring week.

Starting on Thursday this week at @filmhuisdenhaag , "Revival Roadshow" will be shown during @moviesthatmatterfestival in The Hague! Framed as a distorted art appraisal show, the VR installation examines how colonial imagery, consumer culture, and ecological crisis intersect within a speculative future. By asking viewers to choose where to direct their attention, the work mirrors the ethical decisions embedded in how we consume information and history. Find it at @filmhuisdenhaag Studio B Thursday 26 March, Friday 27 March and Saturday 28 March! #mtmf26 #moviesthatmatter #moviesthatmatterfestival #vr

Starting TODAY! Revival Roadshow will be presented at One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival @jedensvetcz in Prague. Set inside a fictional future museum, the VR work invites viewers to navigate overlapping audio narratives triggered by their gaze, as a colonial artwork becomes the centre of a speculative climate crisis. By foregrounding myth-making, media manipulation, and displacement, the installation reflects on how historical power structures continue to shape contemporary human rights debates. Grateful to share the work in a context dedicated to urgent global questions. 🖼️ Revival Roadshow is a 17-minute virtual reality experience by Anne Fehres and Luke Conroy that critiques colonial legacies through the speculative resurrection of 17th-century Dutch explorer Abel Tasman. Set in a museum of the future, viewers encounter a mysterious artwork: Tasman, clutching a Dutch flag, posed triumphantly in a dystopian plastic wasteland. Through gaze-controlled, interactive audio, each viewer experiences a unique narrative, as multiple intertwining storylines unfold. The work blends surrealism, dark humour, and absurdity to explore myth-making, power, and how history is rewritten over time. Constructed from thousands of digitally collaged images, the richly detailed 360-degree scenes evolve continuously. Archival material, AI-generated content, and pop cultural imagery merge to reflect the layered and contested nature of historical narratives—and the viewer’s role in shaping them. Rooted in the artists’ Tasmanian and Dutch backgrounds, the work examines how colonial figures are mythologised, appropriated, and reframed across generations. By combining immersive sound, visual excess, and speculative fiction, Revival Roadshow invites viewers to actively engage with the stories they inherit, and to reflect on the power structures they uphold. 📆 Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March 📍Filmhuis Den Haag, studio B 🎟️ Tickets are available for various time slots. Book yours via the link in bio.

This week we are pleased to present Revival Roadshow in the VR program at @trickywomen in Vienna (March 11 – 15, 2026). The 360° work expands animation into immersive space through a dense digital collage of archival material, AI-generated imagery and animated interventions. Using directional audio, viewers shape the narrative by choosing which voices to follow and which to ignore, highlighting how animation and immersive media can challenge inherited histories and dominant myths.
