Freitag, den 15. Mai, 19:00 Uhr Lukas Marxt (@lukasmarxt ) arbeitet mit Film und dokumentarischen Strategien an der Schnittstelle von Landschaft, Politik und Ökologie. In seinen Arbeiten untersucht er, wie Umweltkrisen, Ressourcenpolitik und Machtverhältnisse ineinandergreifen und Landschaften zu politischen Handlungsräumen werden. Die Gruppenausstellung Ortsbohrungen widmet sich der künstlerischen Erforschung von Orten – im wörtlichen wie im übertragenen Sinn. Ausgangspunkt ist die Bohrung als Metapher und Handlung: als Eindringen in Schichten von Raum, Geschichte, Erinnerung und Materialität. Die beteiligten Künstler*innen reflektieren in ihren Arbeiten die Möglichkeiten und Bedingungen, sich einem Ort zu nähern. Dabei werden sowohl invasive Gesten als auch sensible Annäherungen an die verborgenen Dimensionen eines Ortes befragt und thematisiert. 
Statt Orte zu besetzen oder Spuren zu hinterlassen, suchen die Arbeiten die Verbindung zu einer Umgebung. Sie horchen, tasten und reagieren auf räumliche, soziale und historische Gegebenheiten. So entstehen komplexe Auseinandersetzungen mit Landschaften, Architekturen und Erinnerungsräumen, die unter der sichtbaren Oberfläche verborgen liegen. Ausgehend von Ernst Kapps Organprojektionsthese – der Vorstellung, dass technische Werkzeuge Projektionen menschlicher Körperlichkeit sind – fragt die Ausstellung danach, was sich im Akt des Bohrens projiziert: Wissen, Kontrolle, Verletzung, aber auch Neugier und Empathie. New program! 🌫️ Points Of Reference: Lukas Marxt A deep humming accompanies images of barren landscapes, circular ripples on water, tracks in the desert––in his work, Lukas Marxt explores inhospitable regions and the human points of reference that can be found within them. To do so, he travels to volcanic islands, uranium mines, and coastlines, documenting the ways in which people inscribe themselves into these environments. Some of these traces are fleeting and quickly disappear, while others are highly developed, firmly anchored, and permeated by capitalist structures of exploitation. Marxt draws on the aesthetics of documentary film, sometimes using long, static shots, and at other times dynamic circular movements and drone flights. The places he investigates often lie on the margins of economic and political centers and tell visually powerful stories about nature, people, and their interrelations. For our audience in New York: a rare chance to see five programmes of films by Austrian artist and filmmaker @lukasmarxt , back-to-back at Anthology Film Archives, 22–24 August. Marxt’s films traverse the Arctic to the Mojave Desert to the Salton Sea – deserted places where violent geographies stand as witnesses to ecological collapse and human ambition. His radical moving image practice bends time itself through long static takes, subtle interventions, and haunting soundscapes. A longtime Sonic Acts collaborator, Marxt moves fluidly between cinema and the exhibition space. To accompany this retrospective, Anthology will publish a new book on his practice, featuring an interview from 'Ecoes 6' and an introduction by Sonic Acts, available to acquire at the screenings.
