Curious about the in-between.
Two years ago,
@mglwpunkt and I asked ourselves: What do we want to see more of in the world? And how can we use our privilege and knowledge to make that happen?
We were drawn to the idea of bringing denkfigures from queer theory and practice into organizational spaces. Because queer thought has long explored what it means to transform—individually, collectively, systemically. It knows how to make a home in the in-between, how to move beyond binaries, how to seek care over competition, how to hold space for liminality and softness, how to deconstruct power and injustice. It’s a field so rich, so fluid, that it resists being fully grasped. And that’s why it feels so urgent.
Why should organisations learn from this? Because they have responsibilities. They don’t exist in a vacuum; they intersect with economic, political, and social realities. They have the power to make real choices about change—not just follow best practices, but consciously redefine how they think and act.
Over the past two years, we’ve put this thinking into action—with start-ups, corporations, consultancies, NGOs (forever grateful to the early supporters!). We’ve hosted impulses, workshops, salons—experimenting with how to invite those with powerful levers into wilder ways of thinking. And they have joined in.
Last week we organised an event I wouldn’t have dreamed of two years ago. At the oldest queer club in Germany. In partnership with an organisational development company whose work I deeply admire. With participants eager to send their cases through the lenses of queer theory, systems theory and neo-institutionalism.
I know this all sounds a bit abstract. But that’s the beauty of it. It shimmers, it shifts, it resists being pinned down. And that’s what excites me the most. This endeavour is alive. It invites critique, and yet it’s already proving productive. It challenges my own tolerance for ambiguity.
This is what has consumed me these past few weeks. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
