A great 10k run this morning despite my tattoo still feeling very tight and sore.

A 10k walk not run. After a busy week and a lot of work on my leg tattoo I was finally able to get out. Beautiful clouds but chilly.
The ongoing debacle of the closure of access along the promenade at the Lido has escalated. More secure fixed railings now blocks off all public access at high tide cutting Margate off from the rest of Cliftonville unless an 8 minute detour is taken that is steep, unclear, inaccessible for many and treacherous in parts. The fact the area was sold to a private owner who has willfully allowed it to fall into disrepair with no accountability and has taken away the access to a continual coastal route is inexcusable. There has been zero evidence of any attempt to begin repairs since the promenade was initially blocked. I wonder if there ever will....
This town's greatest asset is its location. It is a joy to live by the sea and the main reason tourists come to visit. It is inexcusable this situation has been allowed.

A glorious but chilly 10k run this morning. The best way to shake off a brilliant 5 days of having so much fun with wonderful friends and getting caught in the torrential downpours we know are indicative of a traditional bank holiday weekend!

A glorious low tide 10k shore line beach run this morning. Running on the sand from start to finish. Tough going as it was nearly as windy and cold as yesterday but always worth it.

A tough 10k run in a brutal, cold 39 mph wind. Sand blasting into my skin and eyes and a beautiful sunrise.
Low tides shoreline running on the wind blown beach where only two days ago there were chalk rocks, now covered in thick smooth sand.

Less windy but still cold on this morning's 10k run. What a beautiful way to start the day and begin the week.

A 10k walk. To reset. I gave too much of my space, my time and myself to lots of people this week, became completely overwhelmed and forgot to make any room for myself. I am an overly empathic person and sometimes I empathise too much and take on all the feelings the other person has, which isn't always good for me. A run or a walk gives me time I need for me. The symbolism and ritual of touching the chalk stacks is essential for this. When I place my hands on the huge stacks I release all my thoughts, worries, wishes into them and feel their energy and power flowing back into me. They calm me, reset and energise me before I turn and run back home.
My morning 10k runs are vital in satiating the endless search for dopamine. They hit the spot. They are tough, use every muscle, every ounce of energy but also fuel my endless energy. Feeling the wind, sea spray, sun, rain and the sea air makes me feel alive in body and mind. Each run is different. The changing seasons means running in darkness, moonlight, at sunrise, in blinding sunshine, beneath cloudy skies, enduring rain, bitter cold, freezing gales or ice. Tide times means varying my route, sometimes running up steep concrete inclines or feeling the sand underfoot, some areas soft deep and a struggle to run though and some smooth, compacted or ridged from the sea ripples. I have to concentrate on the constant changing terrain. There can be deep banks of seaweed, dips in the beach, rocks, pebbles, hidden pools of water and the ongoing game of chicken with the sea. It is always exciting, gives me energy, gets me high and makes me feel great. I have different music playing in my headphones and thoughts or feelings that need to be processed or worked out as I run. Running gives me the dopamine hit I need and a huge sense of achievement and joy. But also running suits my autism trait of needing certain fixed events, schedules and structures. The same route. The same distance. The same time of day. But with the excitement of being unpredictable, requiring adaptability to different challenges every time, so never boring and always keeping my mind and body stimulated.
Back in head and neck warmers for this morning's bright but bitterly cold windy 10k run. Tough against another strong headwind and I wish I had gloves. But glorious none the less!
