5월 12일, 아버지가 세상을 떠나신지 벌써 1년이 됐다. 그날 혈압이 실시간으로 떨어지는 것을 막을 수 없이 아버지의 마지막을 옆에서 지켜보았다. 많이 슬펐지만 요양병원 사화복지사분이 청각이 제일 마지막에 멈춘다며 하고 싶은 말을 하라 하여 사랑한다고 고생 많았다고 천국에서 만나자고 이야기하였다. 아버지가 돌아가시기 2주 전, 섬망 증세가 심해지기 전에 병원 주차장 차 안에서 아버지와 예수님 영접 기도를 드렸다. 그 이후 그렇게 빨리 병세가 악화될 줄은 몰랐다. 그날 영접 기도를 하지 않고 하루 이틀만 늦었다면 아들도 알아보시지 못하는 아버지의 입으로 예수님을 구주로 시인하실 수 없었을지 모른다는 생각이 든다. ’주 예수를 믿으라 그리하면 너와 네 집이 구원을 받으리라‘ 비록 가족들과 떨어져 태국에서 살아가고 있지만 이 말씀을 신뢰하며 남은 가족들을 더 사랑하며 살아가고 싶다. 아이폰 사진첩에 아버지와 둘이 찍은 사진이 아버지가 돌아가시기 직전 병상에 누워 계셨을 때의 사진뿐이라는 게 마음이 아프지만 천국 소망으로 아버지를 주님께 맡겨드린다. It has already been a year since my father passed away on May 12. Unable to prevent blood pressure from falling in real time that day, I saw my father's end from the side. I was very sad, but I told him that I love him and let’s meet in the heaven, because a social worker at the hospice told me that his hearing stops at the end and that I should say what I wanted to say. Two weeks before my father's death, I prayed with my father for accepting Jesus as his savior in a car at the hospital's parking lot before the symptoms of delirium worsened. I didn’t expect that his condition got worse so soon after that. I think that if I had been a day or two late without praying that day, I might not have chance to admit Jesus as his savior with the mouth of my father who even could not recognize his son. “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.” Although I live in Thailand away from my family, I want to live with trust in this word and love the rest of my family more. It is heartbreaking that the only picture taken with my father in the iPhone photo album is when he was lying in a hospital bed just before his death, but I leave my father to the Lord with the hope of heaven.
