Goldwin London Flagship Store marks our first collaboration with the brand, on their their second directly managed store in Europe, located on Broadwick Street in Soho.
At its core, the space is anchored by a ring-shaped yashiro—a Shinto shrine—visible from the street, which serves as both a spiritual and visual centrepiece.
The lighting concept starting point at Jun’ichirō Tanizaki’s In Praise of Shadows, creating a design that embraces the delicate interplay of light and shadow. Soft, diffused illumination radiates from the yashiro, casting a sacred glow that contrasts with the dynamic, layered lighting of the retail environment. This interplay creates a sense of depth and movement, transforming the store into a stage where products are not merely displayed, but experienced. The lighting is thoughtfully integrated into the architecture, ensuring the yashiro remains the focal point while enhancing the overall ambiance

The best lighting decisions are the ones you don’t notice.
Working alongside the team at @lanternslondon we developed an architectural lighting solution for a vintage antique chandelier within the theatre of a London school. Due to the fragility and age of the fitting, rewiring the chandelier was not an option, so the focus shifted towards a sensitive lighting solution that preserved the integrity and character of the piece.
Rather than intervening with the fixture itself, discreet lighting was carefully introduced to enhance the chandelier’s presence. This approach allows the feature pendant to remain the visual focal point, while improving ambient light levels to the historic interior.
This project highlights how considered lighting design can balance conservation lighting with performance.
