Congratulations to Hugo McCloud on being commissioned to create a new large-scale work for the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, Illinois, opening on June 19, 2026.
The work will be included in the permanent collection of the new @obamafoundation in Chicago.
Title of the piece: Hidden Reflection (not pictured here).
McCloud’s practice is rooted in a deep exploration of memory, identity, and place. In this work, the artist traces significant locations in the life of President Barack Obama, transforming geography into a layered biographical narrative. Through his signature use of single-use plastic combined with oil paint, the composition unfolds as a complex surface where references to geospatial mapping intersect with the sensorial dimensions of memory—evoking time, experience, and the ways they shape an individual’s path.
The artist’s abstract use of shadow becomes a metaphor for self-reflexivity, suggesting an identity that is continually evolving—a story always in the process of becoming.
This work is part of the broader vision of the Obama Presidential Center, where public art stands as a central pillar of its mission. With more than 25 site-specific commissions across its campus including monumental sculptures, murals, and immersive installations—the initiative reflects a belief in the power of art to connect communities, inspire civic engagement, and foster a shared sense of humanity.
Through distinct yet complementary approaches, artists like McCloud contribute to a space for reflection and connection, where memory, history, and future converge.

✨ Today we open I Had the Same Dream as Freud, the first solo exhibition by Liu Xin.
We look forward to welcoming you today at 6:30 PM.
Situated within Surrealist research, the exhibition explores the inner landscape of human nature. Through a layered visual language—where figures, symbols, and environments intertwine—the works address universal themes such as love, loneliness, and existence, unfolding in a space suspended between reality and dream.
Drawing from personal dreams, Liu Xin treats them not as narratives but as sites where hidden impulses and emotional truths emerge. Within these suspended imaginaries, the human figure appears isolated and absorbed, often caught in moments of pause or waiting.

Today we open Wanderings by Connie Harrison.
Looking forward to see you all at the gallery.
In Wanderings, large-scale panels invite viewers to immerse themselves in her visual realm, while also magnifying tiny details from the more-than-human world beyond the recognisable. Her work touches on both the power and the fragility of the environment, speaking to a sense of nature as simultaneously all-encompassing and vulnerable, and inviting a reassessment of the complex relationships between self and other, person and place, and abstraction and figuration.
Harrison begins each composition with a base layer of a bright colour, which will sing through the subsequent layers. She then adds a layer of clear wax before painting in a linear representation of her first compositional element, which is generally the form of a leaf of flower, a tiny detail of a landscape magnified to fill the picture plane. After another layer of wax, she adds a contrasting composition which intersects with the first, spatially segmenting the canvas with two images that together dissolve into near-abstraction.
This week we are at Artissima which opened today.
We are booth 16 hall Dark Blue, presenting works by:
Michael Alexander Campbell, Angiola Gatti, Peter Mohall, Nobuhito Nishigawara, Francesco Pirazzi, Shane Roe, Chen Tianyi, Liu Xin.
