It was a journey bringing this to life.
On November 28, 2021 I met
@lumenloraine . We knew we were going to make something together pretty freakin soon after saying hi. But even better, we knew we just found a soul connection in each other within an hour or two. A vibe jive.
We went upstairs to his studio, we listened to his music… released and unreleased… and I was inspired. I connected with his purpose, I loved how he saw the world, I could see that light shined from & through him.
It took us nearly a year of knowing each other before we ever attempted to make a video. It was shortly after
@alorelupi moved to town. The last piece in the puzzle to get our engine started. He is the type of soul friend that writes a bit of my timeline according to him, where there is a distinct before knowing and a distinct after. A fountain of love that never ceases to amaze me. One of the most powerfully creative human folks I have ever known.
After we had our core team, we set out and shot a short music video on super8. Blood, sweat, and tears were shed roaming the southern deserts for locations and proper framing— a dance western we call the Bounty Boogie. After a grueling weekend and 0 sleep, we developed our film… nothing. Nothing but a few frames turned out. “Why oh why does the universe not want us to make our movies?!” I screamed into the night. And then Mufasa’s face appeared huge and high in the night sky and said “persevere, child. It’s not my fault you didn’t inspect your f*ck*ng camera.”
Onward we went. Let’s go with another idea, for another song, and let’s do it right. And then, all the sudden we all had an immaculate conception and became 9 months pregnant overnight. Not really, but that’s what it felt like. We all brought our vision for the video to the table, and the video seemed to magically appear before us. Ideas for effects, shadow puppeteering, singing pumpkins, flying ghosts on ziplines, magic, illusions. We created atmosphere. We wrote beats. And at some point we set a date, because we were ready to shoot.
