‼️TESTIMONY POST‼️ “You do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” — James‬ ‭4‬:‭14‬ Life is but a vapor. And though God has given us life, our lives are not our own. Our lives are always in His hands. And I learned this to be all too true when I was recently diagnosed with rectal cancer. Almost a year ago, I had a discernment in my spirit that something was “off” in my body. No symptoms. No illnesses or sickness at all especially since I’m super healthy, hardly ever getting sick at all. I just had a spiritual inclination that something in my body wasn’t right but I didn’t know what it was but I felt led that I needed to get a colonoscopy. A few months later, I began to have an alarming amount of blood in my stool. This alarmed me and my wife to schedule a doctor’s visit asap that we had on her birthday. Since colon cancer runs on both sides of my family, I informed my doctor and we got a colonoscopy scheduled a month later. Following the colonoscopy, the gastroenterologist informed me that they found two polyps that were pre-cancerous and were able to remove them but also found a tumor that is cancerous, which was later confirmed after biopsy. He also stated that if I had’ve gotten my colonoscopy a year later instead of when I did, it would have been a very horrible conversation to have with me. We were recommended by family to MD Anderson in Houston as they are highly revered as the best when dealing with cancer. My visit with their team of nurses, doctors, specialists, and surgeons was one of a kind as they found that the rectal cancer is in early stage and is considered hitting “the jackpot for cancer lottery” since I’m able to have immunotherapy vs radiation, chemo, and surgery. They also made me feel at home and embraced as a true patient. MD Anderson is a God send as my experience there has me in awe and I definitely feel I am in the best of care. #beatcancer [continued in comments]

Still reflecting on the impact of our Business, Banking, & Breakfast (BBB) event back in February at our Vista Bank South Dallas financial facility. Grateful for the powerful conversation led by Texas Senator Royce West and Shawn Williams — real dialogue around business, policy, and community that continues to move the needle. Moments like this remind us what intentional partnership and leadership can do. Please make sure to join us at the next BBB on May 15th at 9am!

First family international trip ➡️ El Salvador ✅ Had the best time traveling to see my wife’s home country, El Salvador. Grateful to meet our family there for the first time, especially her brother, @erickalexanderlopez . The country is beautiful filled with such a variety of places to visit. One trip doesn’t do justice. Looking forward to our next visit back ☺️🙌🏾

Keep your expectations to yourself Vista Bank South Dallas Market President Lubbock Smith III has high expectations for himself, but in order to go further he had to learn not to put those expectations on other people.

Grateful for the opportunity to sit down with Emmy-nominated reporter @bmoncreasetv of @wfaa to discuss my appointment as South Dallas Market President at @vistabank and, more importantly, the work happening in our community through Vista Bank. This moment is not just about a title — it’s about responsibility. It’s about expanding access to capital, strengthening financial literacy, supporting entrepreneurs, and building pathways to generational wealth across southern Dallas and South Dallas. For over a century, Vista Bank has been committed to serving entrepreneurs and communities with excellence. To now help lead that legacy in a community that means so much to me is both humbling and motivating. The vision is clear: continue putting people first, deepen relationships with impact, and ensure that opportunity is not limited by zip code. Thank you to Brittani and the WFAA team for highlighting the story. The work continues — and we’re just getting started. #SouthDallas #VistaBank #CommunityDevelopment #EconomicEmpowerment #PuttingPeopleFirst
