Are you a bullshitter or a pretender? 🗣️
With the rise of post-truth politics, bullshitting increasingly establishes itself as a mainstream strategy. Institutional art and design can seem intellectually inflated and performative, especially from outside the bubble. Bullshitting and pretending are methods of truth-bending, utilizing the method of the unreliable narrator either openly or in disguise.
Different sub cultures come up with visual, linguistic or semantic codes to protect their authenticity from mainstream influences. People who fail to decode and/or exploit the culture simply for its aesthetic are labelled posers.
Labelling oneself as a poser however leads to a confusing liar paradox. Who is even still trve and authentic in these confusing times? How harmful are these methods to politics, culture and personal relations—or is there potential in them?

The Bestiary of Silicon Valley—a book examining the doings of Silicon Valley billionaires and companies through a lense of techno-feudalist fantasy. The publications features essays, fictional worldbuilding rooted in real scenarios, visual contributions and games, contributed by students of different departments of HfG Karlsruhe and was supervises by Tereza Ruller. Additionally, we made a trading card game, TechBro Arena. Who will rule the Valley? 🐗
“Where One Sees: tools for an exhibition” is a foldable publication with texts and tools collected from the participants of a seminar by Sophie Demay and Alex Balgiu. The seminar dealt with the framework of language, performance and (concrete) poetry through playful methods of manual manipulation. The thin paper and unhandy size of 700×1000 mm nudges the reader into their own playfulness to handle the poster.
