Looking back on April and May, I’m very grateful to have spent time in Latvia for the residency hosted by @baltic_analog_lab and @skanumezs .
During this period, I also had the chance to perform at @modulartriberiga and @ericasynths Garage, before traveling to Tallinn for Modular Monday, hosted by @glitchplease.ee .
Thank you to everyone I met along the way, and to everything that happened during this journey. It was a meaningful time of listening, exchange, and connection.

First MODULAR MONDAY is done.
…and somehow nobody blew up the building. Success!
Big thanks to everyone who came by to witness an evening of blinking lights, tangled cables and people pretending they fully understand modular synths. The turnout was honestly beautiful to see.
Huge love to all the artists who filled the room with everything from delicate ambience to complete sonic confusion.
Safe to say this won’t be the last one.
Looks like MODULAR MONDAY is turning into a series.
See you in the next patch cable spaghetti dimension. 🤍
Since last year, the experimental music festival “Skaņu mežs” has been collaborating with @baltic_analog_lab on a joint residency program, inviting artists from around the world each month. On April 25, performances were given by residents @erikalalooga from Estonia and @lty23 from Taiwan.

On April 25 at 19:00, Baltic Analog Lab and festival Skaņu Mežs invite you for two sound performances by current artists-in-residence, Erik Alalooga (EST) and Lai Tsung-Yun (TW).
Erik Alalooga is a performance director, performer, sound artist, teacher and cultural manager living in Tallinn, Estonia. He is mostly known by exploration and application of DIY analog-technological solutions in his artworks. His music can be described as psychedelic noise, pseudoshamanism, neo-industrial, using weird mechanical instruments. At the event he will present his latest project. First time during his 10 years long experimental music “career” he has separated his performance into three different tracks with titles and stuff. New pieces “Curse upon Electricity”, “The Boreal Desert” and one without title yet will have their world premiere in BAL.
Lai Tsung‑Yun is a Taiwanese sound and media artist. Using modular synthesis, algorithmic systems, field recordings, and real‑time processing, his works move between concert, installation, and situational performance, often in collaboration with musicians, choreographers, and media artists. Since 2013, Lai has curated the Lacking Sound Festival, Taiwan’s longest‑running experimental sound platform. During his residency in Riga, he has been experimenting with the synthesizers at BAL and exploring how they can be incorporated into his existing live setup. His stay in the residency is supported by National Culture and Arts Foundation.
The event will take place in the Baltic Analog Lab 2nd-floor residence rooms, Lienes iela 19a.
Event language: English.
Free admission, drinks for donation.
Baltic Analog Lab Residency is supported by the Latvian State Culture Capital Foundation (@kulturkapitals ).
Meet our artist-in-residence Lai Tsung Yun from Taiwan!
Lai: I’m a Taiwanese sound and media artist working with modular synthesizers, live electronics, and real-time sound processing. I’m also an organizer of experimental music events in Taiwan through Lacking Sound Festival. During my residency at BAL, I’ve been exploring analog synthesis and immersive listening, while getting to know the Baltic experimental music scene and its artists, with the hope of creating more opportunities for future exchange.
📟Describe your creative process in three words: Listening / Searching / Shaping.
📟Name one exciting thing about being here in Riga, in BAL residency?
The chance to focus deeply on sound while also connecting with the local experimental music community. It feels like a meaningful space for both artistic research and future collaboration.
