We’re so excited to share photos from this historic Garden District project with y’all! The renovation of this Greek Revival center hall included significant floor plan changes alongside careful restoration of historic architectural elements compromised by prior renovations. Extensive plaster crown repairs, restored antique pine floors with new antique pine stitched in to match, and custom-milled interior trim and doors allowed us to preserve the home’s historic character, while improving formal entertaining spaces and creating better day-to-day living for a young family. Stay tuned for more, including some dramatic before-and-afters. We bought a house!!! Not just any house, but a 1904 center hall home in our favorite neighborhood, on an oak-lined little oasis of a street 🌳 It’s 122 years old, and we’re the 3rd owners. After 15 years spent wandering around taking photos in this magical city, being a passionate admirer of the houses and architecture, and wondering if I’d ever be one of those lucky people someday, the someday is now and we have our own little piece of paradise in Bayou St John. We moved in and threw a housewarming during Jazz Fest—a crazy, stupid, but correct and fun decision that I am still recovering from. There are night herons that live in the trees above us that we love watching from the porch, and a double cypress tree in the backyard that we learned in Japan symbolizes a harmonious marriage and loving relationship. During the estate sale before we moved in, I met a woman who’s been friends with the couple for years, and in tears told me ā€œthis house is just full of love and good memories.ā€ If I could bottle up, preserve and live in this moment in time forever, surely I would. Life has only gotten better, bigger and brighter with @too_many_rorys . No one wake me up from this dream, because it’s pretty perfect✨ Thank you to our dear friend @mchltckr for capturing such sweet moments of this special time, who is the best at capturing all the feels. And to our other dear friend @junodunes for playing our first of many Jazz Fest porch partiesšŸ’›šŸ¤˜šŸ¼we love ya. Shoutout to our realtor @joshwalthertherealtor for crushing everything and being simply the best! I created an account for the house for fun, lovingly named after the woman we bought the house from who is an absolute delight, if you’d like to follow along our homeowner journey. @bayousaintgeorgia

The befores / not planning any drastic changes, but there were some bold color choices that have got ta go (sorry to the hot pink lovers) I wanted to document the house as it was, empty, before we make it our own.

Volume 14 | The Scout Guide New Orleans Team In case you missed it, SCOUT IS OUT! Volume 14 of The Scout Guide New Orleans has officially arrived, and in the weeks ahead we’ll be sharing the stories behind the images featured throughout this issue. Pictured here are veteran photographer Sara Essex Bradley, TSG New Orleans Owner and Editor Taylor Morgan, photographer Laura Steffan, and Assistant Editor Isabel Balart. For Volume 14, we chose to photograph our team on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar because it is one of the most iconic ways to move through New Orleans. Running since 1835, it connects neighborhoods, campuses, restaurants, shops, and some of the most beautiful stretches of the city. In our spread, we share favorite stops along both the Green and Red lines. From Lowerline to Napoleon, from Canal Street to Second Street, these routes lead to places we genuinely love and frequent. The streetcar is not just scenic. It is practical. It is local. It is one of the best ways to experience New Orleans. Pick up your complimentary copy of Volume 14 to discover our favorite stops along the streetcar route. Find a guide near you via the link in our profile.
