🎭💙 Celebrating creativity and scholarship at LSMSA! The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts continues to spotlight exceptional student work, including a Distinction project by Julia Wisdom. Her project, “Unmasking Commedia Dell'Arte: Archetypes, Clowns, and Divas! Oh My!” explored the rich history and lasting influence of Commedia dell'arte, a masked and partially improvised style of theater that emerged in 16th-century Italy. The research examined how exaggerated stock characters—such as Pantalone and Zanni—reflected society through physical comedy and dramatic expression, influencing playwrights like William Shakespeare and Molière. As part of her work, Julia led a three-week course for Acting III students, teaching the history, movement, and character development central to Commedia dell’arte. Her instruction focused on building skills in comedic timing, listening, and physical performance, bringing historical techniques into a modern classroom setting. At LSMSA, Graduation with Distinction recognizes achievement beyond the classroom. Students complete advanced coursework, maintain at least a 3.6 GPA in their discipline, and present original research as part of their academic experience. 👏 Congratulations to Julia and all of our Distinction students for their passion and dedication! 🔬💙 Celebrating excellence in student research at LSMSA! The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts continues to highlight outstanding academic achievement, including a Distinction project by Monika Garlapati. Her research, “Synthesis and Molecular In-Silico Analysis of a Novel Pyrazolone Derivative and Its Potential for Targeted Colorectal Cancer Therapy Against Conserved CRC Kinases,” explored innovative approaches to cancer treatment. Focusing on colorectal cancer, the project examined how targeted therapies can inhibit specific protein kinases involved in cancer cell growth. Through the synthesis and computational analysis of a novel pyrazolone derivative, the research investigated its potential to bind to and inhibit conserved kinases—offering insight into more precise and effective treatment strategies aimed at reducing relapse rates and improving patient outcomes. At LSMSA, Graduation with Distinction recognizes achievement beyond the classroom. Students complete advanced coursework, maintain at least a 3.6 GPA in their discipline, and present original research as part of their academic experience. 👏 Congratulations to Monika and all of our Distinction students for their hard work and innovation! 🎓 Senior Spotlight: Imani Williams Imani Williams will be attending Loyola University New Orleans after graduation. One of her favorite LSMSA memories is staying up late watching movies and playing scary Roblox games with friends. Her first impression of LSMSA was that it felt very prestigious and sophisticated. A piece of advice that stuck with her: Don’t be afraid to take time for yourself. Her advice for future students: Make time for yourself and take care of your well-being. Shoutout to Sevyn and all of her teachers for making the experience special. Congratulations, Imani! 🎉 #LSMSA #SeniorSpotlight #ClassOf2026

The LSMSA Foundation honored Angela Durden with one of three Wingspan Awards for Dedication this year. A graduate of LSMSA’s Class of 1996, Angela works as a pathologist in Billings, Montana. She has been loyal to the Louisiana School since stepping foot on campus as a student and wrote our inspiring alma mater as a tribute to LSMSA. Now, her daughter, Trinity, is a sophomore at LSMSA and is a work-service student for the Foundation. Angela has a long history of service to LSMSA and has an equally long history of loyal giving because of the impact the School has had on her life. Congratulations, Angela, and thank you for your ongoing support!
