Solo Jazz at @lindyfest! Such an honor to share the stage with dancers whose art and work ethic I admire so much. Figuring out how to calm my nerves before a solo comp has been a long road that I’m still walking, but it’s cool to see how performances and group practices have assuaged the panic (at least a little). Thanks @aleybull and organizers for another fantastic event!

️ hopping on the express tracks with the @eyal_vilner_big_bandas soon as I heard this on their new album that released this week (do you have it yet??) I knew that we had to turn it into a throwdownhaving just come off an opportunity to sub in for the Mana Lu Parks tribute series that @lsfosnight and @i.am.timchristopher were running at @jazzattackswings I wondered if the stops and stew would fit, and they did, down to the exact bar (well, if you play with the tandem section a bit, at least)thanks for throwing down Lauren, and for a killer album, Eyal! tunes from this one will be in my set lists for a long time#eyalvilnerbigband #lindyhop #swingdance #mamalu #swingout

So excited to add this book to my shelf! It was a true honor to edit Felícitas y Gonzalo Méndez: Para todos los niños, written by @marivi.413 and illustrated by @alyssa_bobyssa. This comprehensible Spanish novel recounts the brave efforts of Felícitas and Gonzalo Méndez to end school segregation in California, paving the way for Brown v. Board of Education nearly a decade later. It’s a story about justice, community, and the power we all have to make change. If you’re a Spanish learner striving to build your proficiency, or a language educator seeking to highlight these themes in your classroom, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Gorgeous illustrations, footnotes, and a full Spanish-English glossary offer ample comprehension support.
