Last week, we celebrated the opening of our new exhibition "The Women’s Library at 100: Celebrating a Century of Collections" in the @lse.library Atrium Gallery 🖼️
The Women’s Library, the UK’s oldest and largest collection on the history of the women’s movement, is 100 years old, and this exhibition looks at its diverse collections from the viewpoint of researchers and their current engagement with it.
🗣️ Featuring over 60 items, many on display for the first time, this exhibition represents just a fraction of the extensive history preserved in The Women’s Library—stories of activism, resilience, and progress that continue to inspire today.

NEW: Seven books to read as the Women’s Library turns 100 📚
To celebrate Women’s History Month 2026, @lse.library@heatherdawson370 recommends seven books based on the themes of a new exhibition celebrating 100 years of The Women's Library 📔👩🏻🤝👩🏻🧾
The Women's Library is the oldest and largest library in Britain devoted to the history of women’s campaigning and activism, including the struggle for the right to vote 🗳
A new exhibition @londonschoolofeconomics , running from 2 March to 30 September 2026, highlights the Women's Library from the viewpoint of researchers and their current engagement with its materials.
It also celebrates the figures who created, maintained and expanded the Library in its early years. As Heather writes, "it is striking how much the development of the library depended upon the long-term work of determined women."
Explore the reading list, find more details about the exhibition and register to attend the upcoming launch event happening next Thursday 12 March, 5-8pm @lse.library by clicking on the link in bio or in stories 👆
