Gahhh, feminism and all that but also SHOOT ME IF I JUST WANT TO SPEND MY TIME AND MONEY ON NICE PRODUCE. Not to say I’d ever want to live the life of an incel’s wet dream, so I won’t be appearing on a reprise of Louis Theroux’s manosphere anytime soon. Butttt, it does often raise the question in my mind of what a decent quality of life is. As someone who loves cooking, eating with friends and family, and finding new ingredients / suppliers / produce, is it such a crime to say the ultimate life would be to simply not work, but instead spend the time meandering around market stalls, charting lazily with traders and whipping up a lovely little dinner for later on? #nottinghill #nottinghillmarket

Been awful, awful, awful at posting on my food account recently - I’ve caught the feeling that posting food content materialises and negates the self-fulfilling concept of cooking. Not everything has to be a post. Food should be for enjoyment - when it’s gone, it’s gone. That being said, here’s a big fuck off dump of my favourite food moments over the past few months. Now that I’ve taken a little social media hiatus, I’m ready to start whoring my eats back out again. A selection of my favourite food memories, inclusive of eating & cooking 1. one of the first dishes I plated at Canteen (beetroot, baby gem, ginger crème fraiche, chives) 2. Da using his pen knife to slice into a superb chocolate and Armagnac frangipane by the canal - from @palekitchenandarts 3. & 4. Insanely big appeltaart in Amsterdam from @cafewinkel43amsterdam 5. Burrata and anchovies from @harplanedeli alongside datterini tomatoes, mint, fennel herb and obvs olive oil 5. My first time mastering crackling 6. Poached rhubarb in thyme and lemon 7. A lovely little soup and focaccia from @palekitchenandarts 8. Sea bass ceviche, marjoram, lemon and olive oil 9. Easter staff breakfast from Layla’s inclusive of an insanely good miso cookie (think malted shreddies in cookie form) 10. Black sesame, blueberry, pecan yoghurt bowl in the sun 11. Rhubarb and almond trifle 12. Veal carne crudo with capers and veal jus from Canteen 13. A very wholesome Easter brunch with @tomstrunks

Linguine? In a French restaurant? Mon dieu! Cold Magazine visits Maset, a sexy pan-Mediterranean French restaurant on the quiet streets of Marylebone. Google ‘Best French Restaurants in London’ and you’ll find ample offerings of duck confit alongside images of beret-clad chefs cackling over goblets of Burgundy. The precedent established by Le Gavroche – heralded as setting the Michelin scene for French dining in London during the 1980s – is steeped in a history of classism: as restaurants replaced taverns in the 19th century, the upper middle-classes sought to emulate the fine dining of the French, along with all its white linen and candelabras. French restaurants became a place to flaunt wealth, to be seen. Maset is none of this. Click the link in the bio to find out why. Reel by @ellamapesx
