What a joy to work with Rough & Tumble to create their flagship in the Old Port! We worked to make a space that showcased their vision, craftsmanship, and the product’s rugged beauty. There is a balance between the clean lines of the architectural design and their bags, which come together to create a visually exciting space celebrating this local gem. Windows are IN! We carefully calculate and curate views and this comes to life as we walk through the space after the window install. These full height windows of the Great Room connect you to the outside, and high transom windows allows a view to the sky.

…continuing up the stairs, we get another view towards the Bay. We match the reveal between the baseboard / wall to the wood paneling. You get a glimpse of the custom handrail which blends into the wall, and at night will provide a subtle light below it to guide you on the stairs. The window starts at the floor and connects you, without a break, to the outside. We use our stairs everyday — they should be special !

The staircase is a defining element of a home. The wood-paneled wall, painted wall, and wood flooring continue from the first to second floor, seamlessly connecting the two. An incredible amount of thought went into this design…balance of wood and drywall, window connections to ceiling and floor, expression (by way of a 1” opening) of the air supply, custom handrail, flush stair stringer, depth of stair tread (deeper than your average stair, but not too deep)…and many more. A magical transportive experience.
