Against the scale of horror we see intensify and intensify, it’s foolish to ask what a song can do. But as a ‘renewal of our habits of assembly’, as a minor mode of solidarity, as a profession of our love, as an index of what we want to keep on the other side of hell, then a song, like friendship, is a form of life. Here is one we wrote about that wager, about a FREE PALESTINE, about always being against enclosure whether by states, by mass death, by capital, by the vile logics colonialism infects our experience of living with. It’s about what is in excess of that enclosure. It’s about Fred Moten when he says ‘I don’t need you to help me, I need you to realise this shit is killing you too however much more softly you stupid mother fucker.’ FROM THE RIVER TO SEE THE SEA, PALESTINE WILL BE FREE! Boxing day aka 26 December at Tanswells Commercial Hotel Beechworth, probably playing in the same room we're all pictured in here (except for Hugh who we didn't know when this pic was taken but who kindly provided a pic of him playing in his teen metal band Executer). Grateful to have the gentle musings of @cabbagemothmusic and the raucous peals of Lacky Band (@lugggs @lew.demy ) to support on the night.
