Made this print for my two friends, @abby.annala & @sixteensixty4 ! The context comes from a story of their relationship that they can tell better than I. Actually, I struggled to finish this print because I wanted it to be simple and perfect to match. I got in my head about it not feeling like enough. BUT now that it’s done, I’m thrilled with how it finally turned out. I also love how the piece fits with the rest of the art on their wall.
The inspiration came from blueprint sketches, and I wanted it to look as if the trees were cut straight in half.

Protto Mann is probably my favorite of the 3 reworked tee designs. I was inspired by an old shirt I wore all the time from @thewormholecoffee , of the Mega Man villain Quickman. Naturally, I had to make our design Proto Man, cause he’s the COOLEST, and the spelling is just close enough for a light pun. I could never get the first version I made, way back then, to look quite right. So I’m pretty happy I gave myself a chance to sit with it again! haha

In my head, I always referred to this design as “Lucho Mann.” During this time of my 20s, I was really into luchador masks. I loved the idea that the mask is the focus and received all the praise, good or bad, from the wrestler’s actions and matches, almost like a real-life superhero. In terms of our band, it represented that Otto Mann's music should be judged as art of its own merit. Personally, the mask meant something like a shield. To protect me from my fears of performing and showing my artwork to others. “Don’t look at me/Look what I made” haha
