Nobody is perfect, and certainly not according to your wildest dreams. Part of the first stages of getting to know each other and falling in love are not only exciting butterflies in the stomach but also growing uncertainty. The Lovver app will help you ground your expectations and prevent unpleasant situations and broken hearts in the process of finding a new partner. What do you need to do? Just a few clicks and expectations will vanish into thin air. And you? You are finally down to earth.
For the uncertains, the term “date” even has an explanation on Wikipedia, where it advises us to be selective about what we reveal about ourselves to the other person, but in the same sentence it warns us to act naturally. All it takes is one wrong sentence or topic and all hope is gone. Taboos include ex-partners, health, alcohol experiences, longing for the past, and complaining. Dating is surrounded by many stereotypes, and honesty in the dating environment seems to be a hard standard to achieve these days. But what if there was a way to make sure that our assumptions about the other person are true, and thus prevent headlong love, full of unfulfilled expectations and misunderstandings?
The installation at the Nika Gallery by Sara Szyndler, a student at the Graphic Design and New Media Studio, is part of a wider advertising campaign that reaches far beyond its walls. It includes her own Instagram profile and author’s merch, tailor-made for future users of the app. During the opening will take place a happening – a promotional event – where visitors can fill out the Lovver form, which becomes part of the installation. How much are you willing to lower your expectations and what are you able to reveal about yourself to increase the chance of honest coexistence?
