There will never be a "right" time to finally start writing that story. It's like trying to schedule in having a baby. It's just not going to work. You have to just decide and then figure out how to make it all work. Let writing coach, Holly Payberg-Torroija, help you figure out your next steps so that you can get started and keep on going. Hey all you writing-curious, would-be, blocked, and ready to write, friends, Tomorrow @hollypayberg and @kellycarlinishere are kicking off a FREE 8-day mini-course to help you get your writing jump started. Here’s a few words from Holly: “Have you been asking yourself what is yours to write in these crazy ass times? I know a lot of the writers I’ve been talking to have. They’re feeling all the feels and wanting to do something that truly makes a difference, fast. But what? What’s gonna matter? What’s gonna break through and create positive change? Their brains are going nuts. They’re telling themselves they don’t know. But they do. Because the answer is where it’s always been, right inside their own hearts. They just can’t hear it because the world is getting noisier and noisier and they’re having trouble giving themselves permission to get off the hamster wheel for a minute, breathe and really listen to it. To hear what it has to say. And that’s where I come in. Turns out I’m a bit of a master at helping people settle down and listen to their own hearts. I help them get to the bottom of what is truly theirs to write and then shepherding them through the process of writing it. I want nothing less than to be the cause of more and more writers writing what is theirs to write. Because that is what is mine to do. That’s the way I make a difference.” Join us? 9:30A PT/12:30P ET Come up to any or all days. You decide. But either way just come. It's always a good time with Kelly and Holly and you'll get to meet a whole bunch of new writer friends. Don't overthink it. Sign up at the link in the bio. Day 1 Sept. 2 Tips for finding/deciding which story you HAVE to writer. Day 2 Sept. 3 - Should it be fiction or True Story/Memoir? On Saturday June 21st (10:30 am PST / 1:30 pm EST), in alignment with the Summer Solstice, Kelly Carlin-McCall will be holding space (on Zoom) for those who want and need a little mid-year check in with themselves (and our kick ass Humans on the Verge community).     We’ll use the time to pause and take a deep breath at the half-way point of the year.   A LOT has been churning, lots of changes, shifts, ahas, creations being birthed, stuff being done, and this event is for all those who can see that it would be helpful, at this half way point, to just take a few hours to consciously recognize all that has been thus far, in order see clearly what might be next.   The solstice means “sun stands still” and so let’s be like the sun and stand still and take it all in.   And then, because we are heading right into summer - the time of light, outdoors, travel, adventure, festivals, gatherings, let’s give make a plan for how we're going to enjoy it all. Let’s clear out the metaphorical cobwebs in the bbq and blow up the rafts. Together. So if you've been meaning to come hang out with us, now is your chance. We'd love to see you there! Link in the bio - and it's FREE! Weee!

Hey writers - are you stuck in 2nd Act purgatory? Either in life or with one of your cherished stories? If so, might it be time to embrace your villains in a more profound way? I know, nobody really wants to embrace their villains, but what if it's where the breakthroughs are? Would you do it then? The thing is, and I think we all know this on some level, but there really is no compelling struggle, no strengthening of one’s heroic muscles, no outsmarting, no getting clever, no becoming strong in one’s self, no wrongs to make right, no victory worth turning the pages to discover, without letting those villains play their part. Our inner hero, whether real or fictitious, really does need to stumble and fall and then transcend those villains in order to become whole. And it starts with allowing yourself the freedom to look at those antagonists (whether benign or truly evil) in an entirely new way. If this intrigues you. You might want to consider joining Kelly Carlin-McCall and I for a unique virtual weekend retreat, Embracing Your Villains, April 25th - 27th. You’ll know this retreat is right for you if: -- You’re feeling stuck with the story you’re writing and longing to have a sudden breakthrough that will bring it roaring back to life? -- You’re painfully aware that your story lacks the tension it needs to keep readers/audiences interested, but don’t know how to fix it. -- You’re starting to suspect that you are over-protecting your heroine or hero. -- You’re writing a memoir or one woman/man show and you’re struggling with being truthful about your real world antagonists. If you'd like to experience breakthroughs in any of the above areas, go to the link in the bio to learn more our retreat and sign up. As an added bonus you'll get up to 4 months free membership in our online Village. #writingcommunity #writers #writingretreat #writersretreat #villains #antagonist #writethestory #writingcoach #writingprompts

Seriously, my lovely creatives. If you're feeling spun around by the tornado like environment that is our current world, I beg you... please consider jumping into this 8 week course with me and Kelly. I'm not just saying this because its a course I created. I'm saying it because I have seen what it does for people and it will help you. (Even if you think you don't have time right now. I would argue that's exactly when you need it most) Storytelling is powerfully healing because it connects you back to you in a deeply rooted and grounding way. It helps you turn up the volume on that wise inner voice, and lord knows you're going to need to turn up the volume when the outside world gets this noisy. Once you connect with that, you are now in the eye of the hurricane my friend. The winds can whip, but you will stay centered. And if you accidentally dip your toes into the whipping winds, our Village will grab you by the scruff and pull you back. So whether you are currently toying with a story you know you need to write, or you just need to get your head on straight and are willing to use creative storytelling as a technique to bring you back, I hope you'll join us and take advantage of this special offer (see link in bio) which includes the chance to be in our private online Village for a full year for FREE. Kelly and I won't be doing this workshop again until next year this time, so if you don't grab it now, you'll have to wait a long long time. And don't let money be the thing that stops you. If you need a different payment plan, talk to me. So go to the link in my bio to find out all about this True Fiction 8 week program. And then please sign up. You'll never regret doing this for yourself. We creatives need each other. Looking forward to spending the year with you. #TrueFiction #TrueStory #KellyCarlinMcCall #HollyPaybergTorroija #writingcommunity #writers #creatives #empaths #storytelling #storytellingheals #storytellinghealsusandothers

I made a big decision today, and I'm inviting all who are interested in making a similar decision for yourselves, to join me. I'm changing the channel. I'm not a fan of this reality show that's now in its 10th season. I'm not inspired by its stars. And so I am rolling up my sleeves and doing the hard work to go against the grain and change the channel. As I told folks on social media today, I've always been a listener. And for the last 10 years I have been listening harder than I ever have in my life. Because I am also a lover of people. And as the tide started turning more and more towards division, I was getting worried on behalf of my people (which, for those that don’t know me, includes just about everyone, as long as they possess kindness in their heart). And so my response to the ever increasing division in the world, was to listen even harder. I thought if I could just hear where everyone was coming from, with an open heart and an open mind, I could help people understand one another. I could be a unifying force. Needless to say, that didn’t work out well for me. All it did was make my heart hurt for my people, which, as I mentioned before, stubbornly includes just about everyone (as long as they possess kindness in their heart.) Radical! I know! So I’m done listening. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say, I’ve given myself full permission to go on a listening sabbatical. I’ve earned it. And with my new found free time, I am going to start doing a lot more talking. In fact, I’m going to be teaming up with my friend Kelly Carlin @kellycarlinishere and Humans on The Verge to help others (of a soulful-and-kind sort) to find their true self and start doing more of the “talking” too. If you’re interested in knowing more about what we're going to be up to, and/or want to get involved yourself, then it’ll be best to subscribe to my blog and/or reach out to me to find out how to join my community. (Because I won’t be on social media much anymore, except for business). But before you reach out, I’ll give you fair warning... (READ MORE - LINK IN BIO)
