This post is dedicated to my favorite Taurus in the world…my mommy.
a couple weeks ago I had the absolute pleasure of celebrating her 65th trip around the sun along with our family.
to say the least, the past few years have been ROUGH - so this birthday was a bit more sentimental….pure gratitude for God’s grace and favor over her life.
besides being the ABSOLUTE BEST:
daughter
mother
wife
sister
cousin
friend
she has dedicated her life to SEVERAL foster children and families all up & thru Baltimore as a social worker for over 30 years…. & lemme tell y’all
being of service in THAT way for that LONG is not for the weak.😐
like you have to reeeeeally love people & have a strong spiritual fortitude to withstand all that come with…& she did! but it was still emotionally taxing on her.
and though she still made our house a home EVERY day in every way…she very often forgot about herself.
When she retired 2 years ago I said “Ma, make a bucket list of things you’d like to do. things that make you happy.
Big. small. & everything in between…it’s time for you to DO YOU.”
TamTam has been watching the Today Show for years & always admired the folks waiving their lil signs. So this year, she wanted to waive her lil sign too!
maaaaaan, A TIME WAS HAD.
a 32 hour trip to NYC will be a forever memory I’ll always cherish. I literally watched a new level of JOY unlock in my mommy in reeeal time! 😍
like REAL JOY & i absolutely love that for her. she deserves it.
it’s our responsibility to nurture our own joy! no matter how much loved ones want it for you - you have to make that choice for yourself. & most times that choice is outside of your comfort zone.
let this be a reminder family:
be kind to your self.
unlearn & relearn.
choose wisely & keep it GODspeed.
we are all walking each other home.
