The Golden Age. I turned 25 today. My 25th birthday fell on September 25th, 2025. I used to look at it as a coincidence, but now I see it for what it really is: the world aligning for a new era. I’m lucky to be here. We often take for granted what it means to live. Not just exist, but really live. I’ve battled with my mental health for a long time. It always feels like there is a cloud over my head, and on the days when the sun comes out, I consider it a fleeting gift. But still, a better day than the last. Living with this cloud has made me constantly reexamine things in my life so I can genuinely feel like life is worth living. I’ve always wanted to feel the sun on my skin, but most days it burned more than anything. When I was 20, I decided I was going to build a life for myself where whatever I did had to bring me joy. I wasn’t going to settle or be content with what the world offered me. There’s no way I went through all these trials just to have nothing I want. I can clearly remember being 9 and wondering what I would be like in my 20s. Would I still climb trees? What would I do for work? Would I have my Hannah Montana dream closet? Would I still love dance parties? Would I stay adventurous? Would I be happy? All those questions made me more excited for the future. I didn’t know it then, but I see now that everything I hoped to keep was a reflection of the things I loved about myself. I think we’re always trying to feed our inner child and make little us proud. Dreams evolve, they’re supposed to. But the important parts stay. At 25, I still climb trees. Nature keeps me calm. My home is filled with plants to remind me to grow. At 25, I’m a Creative Director and it rarely feels like work. At 25, I do have my Hannah Montana closet. And yes, I still play dress up every single day. At 25, I dance even when no one’s watching. Music will always keep the beat of my heart. At 25, I’m still a side quest queen.I’m always ready for an adventure, the unknown doesn’t scare me anymore. At 25, I am happy. Not always, and that’s okay.The cloud still comes, but I feel the sun on my skin warm and gentle. At 25, I’m still Sandrah Nasimiyu. Happy Birthday to me.

The Fashion Circuit [003] 05.08.26 ”Groove Theory” This season, we reflected on a decade that redefined fashion as we know it. The 1970s were a time when bold patterns, textures, and silhouettes took on new meaning. Identity became a statement woven through every aspect of culture — from hair, music, and dance to art, fashion, and self-expression. When we started The Fashion Circuit in 2024, we did not know what it would become. What we did know was that we wanted to shift the narrative around fashion in Iowa. As Des Moines natives, this city has always been our playground, and what better way to celebrate its beauty than by creating memorable experiences with our community. A year ago, we hosted our first show, and now here we are at SS26, our third showcase, and what we believe is another beautiful chapter in this growing story.
