Meet Louis Burgess, a London creative who found his sense of purpose through photography. What started as simply picking up a camera grew into something much more meaningful, giving him a real feeling of direction and fulfilment. For Louis, it is not just about the images, it is about the stories behind them, the moments he captures, and how it all connects back to who he is. Speaking with him, one thing stood out straight away. He is genuinely committed to his craft. There is a natural curiosity in the way he approaches photography, always wanting to learn, experiment, and keep evolving. His dedication is not something he forces, it is something that clearly comes from within. In this feature, Louis shares his perspective, the lessons he has learned along the way, and where he hopes photography will take him next. šŸ“ø @simonrphoto

Welcome to all the new followers from yesterday’s post. Crazy to think we’re 4 years in already. Feels like 4 days if I’m honest. Still feels like we’re only getting started. One thing I’ve learned is consistency carries you further than anything else. To every creative having a heavy week, remember when you were just starting out and how much you wanted to be in the position you’re in now. We grow together. Here’s to a successful weekend ahead šŸ¤

4 years ago I picked up a camera with no clue what I was doing. Didn’t know how to shoot, where to start, or how I’d ever make money from it. I just knew I loved it. There were a lot of doubtful days in the beginning, but patience and knowing I had that spark in me always gave me some sort of hope that things would work out. Since then, every shoot, every client, every mistake, and every win has taught me something. I’ve never really let myself get comfortable, always feeling like there’s more to learn and more to improve on. This industry can be unpredictable, but if you care enough and stick with it, you really can build a life from your passion. 4 years deep. Grateful for all of it šŸ“ø

One of my clients asked me today, ā€œLouis, how do you want to be remembered?ā€ That question stuck with me all day. Truth is, this journey hasn’t just been cameras and content. There’s a lot behind the scenes people don’t see. Late nights, pressure, stress on Sundays, constantly thinking about the next project, the next idea, the next move. There’s been points where I’ve put client projects and visual marketing before my own mental health, and honestly, it led me to some pretty dark places. But despite all of that, I still love creating. Some people call it obsession, I just know I was never built to live a normal life working for somebody else. I don’t compete with anyone, but of course we all want to leave something behind and be remembered for what we created. If people remember me as Lou Visuals one day, that’s enough for me. 105K followers already. Let’s stay locked in for the rest of the year. Big love to everyone supporting the journey 🩶

Spending a lot more time in front of the camera these days and I’m genuinely grateful for every opportunity that’s come my way recently. Being able to share more of my creative journey and connect with so many different people has been a special feeling. Busy week ahead with new clients, fresh projects and such a wide variety of work happening all at once. Every experience is teaching me something new and pushing me to grow creatively and personally. We’re just out here giving everything a go, staying consistent and aiming higher every time. Big love to the team and everyone supporting the journey always šŸ¤

Little BTS from a headshot session with my dear friend Charlie šŸ¤ Always grateful to be trusted with this kind of work. I just want people to feel comfortable, relaxed and fully themselves in front of the camera — that’s always the goal. Very excited for the week ahead too… a few projects happening that I can’t speak about just yet šŸ‘€ Watch this space. Happy Sunday everyone x

A few stills from what has truly been an incredibly busy season for business. With so many exciting opportunities and genuinely great shoots along the way, it felt right to share a few moments from it all. šŸ“ø I promised myself that 2026 would be the year I proved myself wrong, pushed past my own limits, and earned my respect back. We’re only just getting started. Thank you for being part of this endless creative journey.

To all photographers starting their journey, quitting your 9 to 5 and going all in on your passion is actually the best part, you just don’t know it yet. šŸ“ˆ The first paid client, the first camera, working endless hours for free just for exposure… such a special time. Before I had a team, I was a one man band doing absolutely everything myself. Shooting, editing, emailing, planning, driving, creating, stressing. The freedom you dream about later is built from the endless work you put in now. The late nights, the sacrifices, the moments nobody sees. Never take for granted the people who supported you from day one, the shoots that led to bigger things, and the reason you still put your heart and soul into this. It will all pay off. ā¤ļø

Red flags are there for a reason, and they don’t disappear just because they’re ignored. They tend to return, especially when you are running a business with a team that depends on structure, clarity, and mutual respect. šŸ“ˆ There is a growing idea online that burnout equals success. That constant availability, late nights, and always being ā€œonā€ somehow prove dedication. In reality, it often points to poor boundaries, unclear expectations, and relationships where your time is not being valued properly. Anyone who has worked long term with clients or scaled businesses knows that deadlines are not just about speed, they are about respect. The most sustainable client relationships are the ones where scope is clear, communication is honest, and urgency is not treated as a permanent state. Endless revisions for clients who have no regard for your time slowly drain more than energy. They affect creativity, focus, and eventually the quality of the work itself. Working late into the night can start to feel normal, just to avoid waking up with that morning anxiety of knowing the workload has already overflowed before the day begins. Burnout can sometimes be mistaken for ambition because it looks impressive from the outside. But behind the scenes it often comes from saying yes when you should not, and accepting pressure that was never reasonable in the first place. Building something meaningful should not require constantly sacrificing your wellbeing. Real growth is not measured by exhaustion, but by systems and relationships that allow you to do your best work without losing yourself in the process. 🩶

Another great shoot for a clothing relaunch. Always a responsibility being trusted to bring someone’s brand to life through visuals — but honestly, it’s the part I enjoy most. Taking something that starts as an idea and shaping it into something real, something people can connect with, never gets old. Really solid team on this one too, which makes all the difference. Everyone just locked in and pushing the same direction. Feeling good about what we captured and excited to see it all roll out. Nice to see the vision land properly.
