For Panenka‘s TV series This is Not a Murder Mystery, Costume Designer Charlotte Willems B.F.D.C. shares some insights on her design process. “For the pieces I designed specifically for this project, I worked with contemporary fabrics that echo the past, in texture, colour, and movement. They behave beautifully on camera, which is always key” “At the same time, sustainability has been part of my way of working for years. Using deadstock from designers like Inès de La Fressange, Haider Ackermann or Dries Van Noten fits very naturally into that. It’s about working with what already exists. “I’ve always combined vintage, deadstock, upcycling… not just to avoid fast fashion, but because it creates something richer. A little over a year ago we stepped into 1946, post-war London, and began creating the wonderful world of Bookish. ❤️ What a true gift it’s been to design, invent and create characters that connect so perfectly with the witty, slightly quirky , outside-the-box writing. I have been the luckiest to work alongside an incredible costume crew… each one pouring their hearts into into every detail to bring the vision to life. Weekend Nepal spam, because some places don’t just stay in your camera roll… they linger in your chest. Nepal is that kind of place … where time slows down and your heart catches up… the warmth of people I barely knew but who treated me as family, trekked paths that thought me patience, the sound of praying wheels spinning, … I came for adventure, got the kind of high only high altitudes give you, but left with something deeper. A friendship that grew from trail conversations, tired silences, shared meals, and moments where words weren’t even needed. @jaishambo1 Some journeys shift your perspective… this one rearranged it entirely. Nepal spam incoming 🇳🇵✨ my heart is so full with mountain air, beautiful memories and most of all, with gratitude for a new dear friend @jaishambo1 , Bharat Jirel aka King Lama. We spent over 25 days walking side-by-side… more then 400 km’s on foot, up who-knows-how-many elevation meters, across countless suspension bridges, into the clouds and through landscapes that felt like dreams. Endless stairs, winding trails and silent mornings, fueled by Dal Bath… we shared laughter and the quiet magic of the Himalayas. This journey changed me. Nepal gave me more than I ever expected. The raw beauty of nature, the silence of the mountains, the kindness of strangers, the thrill of the trek… every step felt like a gift. But the heart of this journey was Bharat Jirel—my guide, my travel companion, my friend. With his deep love for the mountains, endless patience, and genuine warmth, he showed me Nepal in a way I could’ve never seen on my own. Seeing the Himalayas through his eyes made everything more meaningful. I’ll always be grateful for the laughs, the lessons, and the quiet moments we shared on the trail. As the year gently comes to a close, I find myself looking back with so much gratitude for the projects that have shaped my path. Today I’m thrilled to share some behind-the-scenes glimpses from a truly special film I worked on a few years ago. This one took me from fittings in vibrant New Orleans to shooting in the stunning beauty of Ireland, with even some fun challenges like building harbingers for stunt performers. I’m so thankful for the incredible crew that poured their hearts into this project-and even more grateful that some of these amazing people are still by my side today.
