I’ve only just learned this sad news that Jack Bond - a true maverick and renegade of cinema sadly passed away on Christmas Eve. Best known for his work with Salvador Dali and The Pet Shop Boys he was a truly unique artist. I was lucky enough to work with him in 2013 doing the finishing edit and colour for his documentary The BlueBlack Hussar which documented the previous 15 years he’d spent filming Adam Ant. He was an incredible character who totally embodied the term “old school “ but in the very best way. The stories he shared in our edit are some of the wildest I’ve ever heard (and you all know I must’ve heard a few). We remained firm friends long afterwards and would regularly meet for a pint of Guinness somewhere in the small distance between my building in Fitzrovia and his apartment on top of the Barbican (of course he lived there!). I can certainly guarantee there will never be another filmmaker (or man) like him again and I’m sad there won’t be one more pint outside the Duke of York with my old pal. Goodnight Jack x
