Rituals For New Futures is an ongoing project initiated by multimedia artist Maria Nikiforaki @marianikiforaki2020 . Featuring an imaginary, sci-fi-inspired female heroine, the project explores the essential elements—water, soil, fire, and air—and their potential as leading characters in the process of creating sustainable futures.
This night charged with folklore and feminist resonance, becomes a portal where the heroine channels the silenced voices of women condemned and burned. Their stories, amplified through a sci-fi narrative, echo into the present—resurrecting spectral warnings and hopes across time and species."
Following the opening chapter in Spain, Rituals For New Futures travelled to the Czech Republic. Chapter two, Awakening Death, took place on the night of April 30 which marks the day of Burning of the Witches. This ancient tradition sees people gathered around a bonfire in a ritual that represents the triumph of light over darkness as winter transforms into the season of spring. The heroine visited Prague’s MeetFactory with a scorching performance featuring a soundtrack composed by LostDog.

LostDog, dříve známý pod pseudonymem Kuba93’, je zakladatelem labelu Harmless Youth, DJ a také audiovizuální umělec pocházející z Prahy. V jeho tvorbě experimentuje na pomezí ambientu a noisu, jeho záběr je však široký a slyšet u něj můžete různé žánry od elektroniky až po post-punk aj. Rituals For New Futures is an ongoing art project investigating the transformative power of
rituals in shaping political landscapes. The project features an imaginary, sci-fi-inspired
female heroine and explores the essential elements—water, soil, fire, and air—and their
potential as leading characters in creating sustainable futures.
The first chapter, La Creación de Una Heroína, was set against the backdrop of Madrid and
centered on the element of air as spirit.
The next chapter, Awakening Death, set in Prague, focuses on the element of soil. The heroine after incorporating flaming through a performance at Milada Lake will presentfire at the MeetFactory Public House in collaboration with Czech producer LostDog, who has composed a special score for the performance.
