The 2025 L.A. Dance Project x EDLA!
Summer Dance Intensive Begins!
L.A. Dance Project is passionate about creating a safe space for young dancers to express themselves, nurture their unique voices, and make meaningful discoveries through movement. Since 2019, we have partnered with Everybody Dance LA! (EDLA!), a nonprofit serving over 4,000 students annually, transforming lives and communities through the power of high-quality dance education in low-income areas of Los Angeles.
At the heart of this partnership is the Summer Dance Intensive, where EDLA! students train at LADP’s performance theater and studio five days a week, six hours a day, honing their technical skills and artistry. Led by 2025 Artistic Director Shu Kinouchi, this immersive experience includes ballet and modern technique classes, self-expression movement exploration, reflection periods, and rehearsals for an original piece performed at the program’s culmination.
As Shu beautifully puts it: "With this summer intensive, I want students to rediscover the power of connection—not just for others but for themselves. Knowing how to engage and create meaningful connections on stage is transformative. If they learn to connect through dance, even in close range and small movements, they can carry that skill beyond the stage and apply it to their lives and interactions."
The program also offers masterclasses from guest artists, yoga sessions, and college and career workshops, fostering both technical growth and personal development. Past intensives have featured hip hop, bharatanatyam, and Korean folk dance, alongside a collaboration with L.A. Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra LA.
Let’s kick off a summer of dance, connection, and artistic discovery!
