The Girl Who Planted Trees written by Caryl Hart with illustrations by Anastasia Suvorova is a beautiful reminder that even one small voice can spark meaningful change. With stunning illustrations and a powerful message about courage, care, and the environment, this story plants seeds of hope in every reader. I’m quickly becoming a HUGE fan of @nosycrowus books not only because the books are gorgeous & meaningful but some of the picture books come with a free audiobook! You can scan the QR code at the back of the book & voila! Children can listen & follow along which is great! I read this book to my Grade One reading group and they loved it! They were excited that they could listen to it on their own at home later too. Perfect for sparking conversations about making a difference, no matter your age šŸ’š #ChildrensBooks #ReadAloud #EcoReads #KidsWhoCare #BookReel LiteracyMatters

I really love The Forest of Reading program! Reading Canadian books written by Canadian authors and instilling a love of books and reading in children is easy when you have a great collection to share with them. We can’t wait see who will win the Blue Spruce Award! Running the program in the library is a little harder when your position keeps getting reduced like ours is in our school board but I believe in it so much that I decided to get creative with it. We read the books over the last few weeks, and then I hosted a ā€œBlue Spruce Dayā€ and invited the classes I teach to come enjoy the activities associated with the books and vote on their favourite book while listening to the books again courtesy @cbckidsca who has a playlist on YouTube. My wish would be able to do this with the whole school. What was your favourite Blue Spruce book this year? Now that the voting is over I’ll share mine: The Girl Who Loved Poutine by Lorna Shultz Nicholson with illustrations by Rachel Qiuqi šŸŸ

Lost at sea, secrets in the waves, and a story that feels like it’s whispering to you… Scarlet Morning by ND Stevenson is a beautifully written adventure filled with mystery, emotion, and just the right touch of eerie magic. The atmosphere pulls you in from the very first page, and the characters stay with you long after you close the book. If you love YA stories about the sea, hidden truths, and unforgettable journeys, this one’s worth diving into.
