Demilitarized Musik | jul-11-25
a snippet of the live performance i worked on for the radio show as part of the experimental radio seminar
@cashmere_radio
the idea came after stumbling upon a couple of vhs cassettes in the streets, both are recordings of military band concerts, cologne/berlin, both from 2003
i took two vhs players, opened them up to capture the motors’ electromagnetic field with a couple of inductors-from one, and to parasitically intervene the other with a tape player head, then i played them back and ranted on top about costa rica’s demilitarization history and the state as a construct while i was progressively filtering my voice and simultaneously filtering the vhs’ audio with 4
@neutone_ai morph vst instances, sort of dissolving meaning altogether
( the toy gun was also found it in the streets, a couple of weeks after the performance )
the text on the first image is the end of the rant; here’s the actual extract heard from the audio:
‘I’M THINKING RIGHT NOW HOW THE VALUES OF CAPITALISM, WHICH AT ITS CORE RELATE IN A COMPLEX AND MULTILAYERED MANNER WITH MILITARISM AND ECONOMY AS A SYSTEM THAT PERPETUATES THE EXISTENCE OF AN ASSEMBLAGE THAT SERVES IDEALS, INTERESTS, DEMOGRAPHICS, TECHNOLOGIES, CULTURES, AND HENCE, ARE POLITICAL AGENDAS THAT FOLLOW THE PREVIOUS.’
