Just heard that our dear friend and legendary songwriter Neil Sedaka has passed away. I was so honored to have met him last year. We shared a wonderful lunch where I peppered him with a million questions about the Brill Building and the early days of rock ’n’ roll. He truly saw it all from day one. A few nights later, I watched him perform — and in the middle of a song, he stopped, looked at me, and asked what the chords to the bridge were to “Love Will Keep Us Together!” — a moment I’ll never forget.
