We were losing the light fast on our way back into Hoi An when the smell of smoke hit us. I told @the_malcam to pull the bike over right then and there. As soon as he stopped the engine, the silence was instant, just the low crackle of the fire and the damp evening air. That cow just stood there, totally unfazed by us or the flames. In that deep blue mist, the whole thing looked less like a farm and more like something out of the Bible.

When I looked at her, she felt like something out of a painting. The cigarette in her mouth cut through the soft glow of the candle lanterns, and that contrast made it all feel a little unreal... She was there selling lanterns for people to set adrift on the lake in Hoi An, and these lanterns drifting across the water were what everyone came to see, but for me, she was the most beautiful subject
