-One man pulling a cart asked Serra if he was a cop. When he said no, the man’s reply was immediate, “Benvenuto ad Albergheria, allora” (“Well then, welcome to Albergheria”). Some people refused photos. Others waved Serra in with a grin. One asked, puzzled, “Why do you want to photograph this junk?” Another extract from the article written by @bartolomeo_sala and @lorea.ll for @italysegreta , with a few more photos from this longterm project “Albergheria - Leonia” that I have been shooting in Palermo. You can find the link for the article in bio and on my stories

“The more Leonia expels goods, the more it accumulates them.” –Italo Calvino, The Invisible Cities (1972) I’m so happy to share the beautiful article that @lorea.ll and @bartolomeo_sala wrote about this project that I shot in Albergheria, Sicily. You can find the full article in the link in bio on @italysegreta website, and here is a little extract: “In the shadow of these ruins, the distinction between treasure and trash disappears. Serra was drawn to that in-betweenness, the market’s function as a final European stop for objects bound for the Global South, and the way its clutter reflects a system that produces more than it can ever absorb.”

Our first article of 2025 is out now on @italysegreta ! We explored the rural side of Vercelli looking for the history and the present of rice in Italy, and Vercelli’s cult rice dish Panissa. With @bartolomeo_sala and @lorea.ll , we are really happy with how it turned out! Check it out on the following link on @italysegreta (in bio and in the stories). /panissa-in-the-po-valley/

Part 2. This summer with @lorea.ll and @bartolomeo_sala we also talked about old traditions and folklore in Ogliastra for our article on an ancestral recipe published on @pitmagazineuk . Here some photos from a local fair in the mountains of Sardinia.

We are really really excited to share our work printed on the latest issue of @pitmagazineuk ! We were lucky enough to spend some time with my family and the centenaries of a small village (Talana) in the mountains of Sardinia, who told us about their ancestral recipe of minestrone. This story is about minestrone, which some believe to be one of the reasons behind the large number of centenaries in the area. However, this dish has told us a lot more about this region, ranging from its lore to its socioeconomic developments. Here are a few photos that didn’t make the cut for the final edit, the best you will find in the printed magazine! Get a copy of Pit (Beans Issue) to read the whole article!
