Work in Progress: Midsummer
We love seeing the work that goes into each piece of the Midsummer collection - a series of textile artworks by the super talented @loraavedian for Once - coming soon.
And can’t wait to share these beautiful pieces of delicate embroidery and fine applied silks with you all. We know that they will bring cheer and joy to each and every home.
Lora considered her favourite Midsummer fauna to carefully sew, by hand, and craft these intricate pieces. Designed to be bought as a series of a few pieces together or beautiful on their own. Keep an eye here for more and a special event at Once this Midsummer !

I finally got to send out my newsletter this morning 💌 after what felt like a very long Easter holiday. I when i sat down to write it i realised that i have been working really hard the last month on lots of different projects, but can’t tell you about a lot of it yet. 🙃 So this month’s Spring Studio News was mainly about the lovely pictures @elenabazu took of me in my studio and an update on workshops with a special discount - if you subscribe to my newsletter and you didn’t receive it this morning please check your spam!
Next months will have more updates on what i have been working on, a lovely collaboration and more! Now i’m back in the studio, i’m going to get my head down for a couple of deadlines this week 🪡 wish me luck! 🍀

Starting with Double an Single Criss-Cross trims, moving swiftly on to the Vine Leaves, Double Twists and Oak ‘loose leaf’ trims. Missing out the Scrolls and the Corkscrew
I realise no-one will stay the whole minute to watch it through even though i have sped it up! But i had to take advantage of the gorgeous light in my studio and i wanted to show you all this lovely box made by @keep.collect last year ♥️

Carrier Company x Lora Avedian
🌹 Rose season is here 🌹
Launching at @the_rhs RHS Chelsea Flower Show next week!
We are excited to reveal the first in a little collection of embroidered workwear jackets, and smocks. In this collaboration Lora has added a flourish of her signature floral embroidery to a small selection of Carrier Company’s @carriercompanyuk classic workwear garments.
Each garment is made in Norfolk by the family run Carrier Company. A perfect blank canvas for Lora’s decorative work.
Each piece has been carefully considered for the shape of the garment, giving space for the embroidery and the not taking away from the classic shape of the garment. Each design is a bold and playful ode to gardening and gardeners.
Go and see the pieces for yourself at the Carrier Company’s stand at RHS Chelsea Flower Show next week! A chance to try on and see the rest of the beautiful collection and their lovely clothing range.
Garments will soon be available to order on Lora’s website. Each piece will be embroidered to order, contact [email protected] for enquiries.
🪡🌿BOTANICAL EMBROIDERY RETREAT 🌸🪡
Join me in France this October, in the idyllic location of Clos Mirabel, in the French Pyrenees 🇫🇷 🌞 @closmirabel
I am so looking forward to going back to Pau, to this family run retreat location. The people are so lovely, location is stunning and the kitchen garden food was a true highlight!
We will spend a week delving in to all sorts of different embroidery and fabric manipulation techniques to make botanical inspired embroidery artworks. I’ll bring all my materials to play with and my smocking machine to make 3d flowers with.
We will also have the lovely Eleanor Langton joining us as my special guest @artofrest_ to do some simple stretches between stitches, some mindful drawing exercises and an (optional) restorative yoga. 🧘🏻 😴
Find out more through the ‘WORKSHOPS’ page of my website - direct link in the linktree in my profile. If you have any questions, feel free to message me on here or contact me via email [email protected].
We can’t wait to see you there for a restful and creative retreat!

Here is a glimpse into the magical day I had in the depths of Cornwall @prussiacove last week. The lovely @joannagame_flowers invited me to do a one day embroidery workshop and we made embroidered flowers and leaves inspired by the beautiful selection left after Jo’s Beltane weekend retreat(which really looked so divine). I have been trying to put this post together all weekend, it has been tricky to decide which photos to go with - there were so many beautiful moments!
In the morning we learnt a selection of great embroidery techniques and we spent the afternoon using them with lots of beautiful threads, ribbons and silks to make a single embroidered flower or leaf. It was so interesting to see which techniques and flowers the students decided to go with. We had Dandelions, Ammi, clematis, ranunculus to name a few. It was an opportunity to play with materials and it was so nice to see everyone embracing that!
Thank you @joannagame_flowers for inviting me down to do the class, to work and stay in the beautiful venue @prussiacove . Thanks to @botanical_tales@lisa_made_it@4jacquelinemills and everyone else for joining the class, such a talented group of ladies in such a special location it was a joy to teach you all!
If you would like to learn to embroider with me you can find more workshops i am running throughout the year on my website through the link in my bio 🔗

🪡 NEW WORKSHOP 🪡 Learn how to do (my own version of) ‘white work’ embroidery and make your very own linen lampshade! Taking place over two consecutive weekends, i’m teaming up with my mum Ann who is a pro lampshade maker - she makes all mine!
When: SUNDAY 7th/14th JUNE
Where: Lora’s studio - Fusion Arts, Kingston-Upon-Thames
What will you learn?
The first session:
we will be learning three different embroidery techniques, and how we can work with them in different ways by using different materials and scale of embroidery. We will all do the three plants pictured; rudbeckia, daisy, and wheat/grass. You can do the same design as mine or make up your own!
With a week in between to finish the embroidery…
Second session:
Ann will expertly guide you through binding our frames, hemming our embroidered linen on a sewing machine and hand stitching our lampshades to our frames!
Suitable for beginners and improvers

@elenabazu came over to the studio last week and recorded a little bit of my process whilst I am working on a re-stock of cushions for @__abask__
Pictured is the ‘Ode to Echinacea’ cushion in an exclusive blue colour for Abask. People often ask me how long things take to make. This one takes about 6 hours for me to embroider on my free-motion embroidery machine. Each of the pieces are embroidered by me, in my studio in SW London, making each one unique in some way. I think that’s a really important part of my work, and helps it to stand out from the crowd.
I’m so grateful to all my customers who appreciate my craft and continue to support my business by buying products or commissioning a piece of work ♥️ thank you!
If you haven’t signed up for my newsletter i’m going to do one this weekend! so go to my website and fill out the pop-up form or scroll to the bottom of the website 💌
