The best pieces in our home aren’t just furniture, they’re where life actually happens.
This corner has already collected so many memories. Long wine-accompanied conversations. Cozy movie nights. Warm morning coffees. Games with friends & family. Answering emails. Our cat claiming the best spot like he owns the place (he does).
When we designed this space, we wanted it to feel like the heart of the house. Somewhere we’d actually want to be and slow down, not just pass through. @vetsak understood that vision perfectly - their sofas are built for real life. And we’re so happy we got to collaborate with them ❤️.

At our previous place, the dining table was the breathing centre of our home. Everything happened there.
Here in Portugal though, the house - and our rhythm - asked for something else. We wanted to create a living room built for slowing down. For landing after adventure. For warmth, softness, and space to relax.
That’s where @vetsak came in. These vetsak sofas are as beautiful as they are comfortable, and I honestly don’t see myself getting another sofa ever again. The quality ánd looks are unbeatable. And if we ever want to switch it up, we can easily move the modules into a new set-up, or change the covers.
This is where we come down after surfing, curl up with a book, watch movies, light the fire, and talk late into the evening with a glass of wine.
Same intention as before. Just a different centre of gravity.

FAVORITE CORNERS / Lately I’ve been paying close attention to the corners of our home that keep pulling me in - both as a photographer and as someone who notices how a space feels, and home-owner of course.
The dining area is an easy favorite: warm wood, soft shapes, terracotta tones, and the way the morning light moves across the table.
The kitchen holds the same calm simplicity, as the actual centre of the house.
And the window nook upstairs always makes the vineyard view look like a painting, no matter the weather.
Finally: the hallway, guest bedroom and its bathroom: clean lines, long shadows, and that warm light falling across the terracotta floor.
My absolute favorite corner stays hidden for now. I’ll share it next week 😏.
Shout-out to Kim (@kloos.interieur ) for guiding us through our interior choices. Together we made our moodboard come alive, and we’re so grateful for your help ❤️
Also a big thank you to @dhmericeira for building the dinner table of our dreams ❤️
Welcome to Picanceira. A tiny hillside village between vineyards and the Atlantic ocean. A place where time has stood still in some ways, where colorful sunsets linger, and life just moves a little slower.
Feeling really inspired by all the beauty surrounding me right now - and getting ready to finally show you the house ❤️
Life in Costa Rica is mostly lived outdoors: ocean swims 🌊, jungle hikes 🐒, sunset dinners 🌅. But after all that wild beauty, we craved something most (Airbnb) homes were missing in the area: a truly comfortable and stylish place to land.
So we designed our spaces with soft textures, warm tones, and thoughtful touches - little corners where you can curl up, unwind, and actually feel at home.
Whether it’s morning coffee on the sofa, a slow afternoon nap, or reading by soft light after a long beach day: Sol y Sombra is your place to rest and prepare for new adventures.
