Long Weekend is in Dwell! 🎉 🎉 🎉 come pay us a visit in Livingston Manor 🤩 💫 🌞
.
This article came out a month ago in the @dwellmagazine March/April ’24 issue, and I am still not over it.
I’m very grateful to be a part of this vintage and design community. I started doing this business @longweekend in 2019 simply by observing from others who have done it before me, doing crazy research (I love research) and just wanting so much to run my own biz on my own terms. There is so much about this business that I am still learning, there are so many dealers out there (better than me lol) with an incredible eye, and so, so much more good old stuff to rescue and breathe new life into. I’m just happy I got to carve out my own little space into this world of vintage/interiors, live so close to an abundance of nature, have fun in the process, as well as inspire and encourage others that they can push their creative limits and do it too. It’s hard and mega work, oh yes, but I wouldn’t trade this fulfillment of having control over my own business over anything!

Last Summer 2025, my bestie @reynanmakes and I randomly applied for a casting call to an Instagram post he found. We thought it was a scam. Three callbacks later we found ourselves on a new adventure.

@woodland_pottery is now live on the site. Bringing these pieces to you was a slow and intentional process—from Hugh’s hands at the wheel, to quiet moments of selecting, planning, and photographing. I’m excited to share this process with you—behind the scenes, small details, and the rhythm of getting it all ready.

Woodland Pottery is the woodfired ceramic work of Hugh Prysten, created deep in the Catskill Mountains where fire, earth, and time shape each form. Hugh’s practice honors traditional wood firing techniques, where flame and ash leave their mark in unpredictable yet poetic ways. No two pieces are alike—each vessel is a quiet collaboration between artist and kiln, guided by intuition, elemental process, and patience.
