When I pitched the idea to showcase the helmet collection at F1 I had to write an "about the artist" paragraph. Re-wrote it 1,000 times. As creatives it's hard to conceptualize in a few lines who you are and what inspires you. When I'm lost, I go back to when I was kid and spent afternoons pretending I was a fashion designer, a model, a tennis player, painter, builder, magazine editor, stylist, photographer, party planner... Im probably missing a few other creative ventures. It didn't matter how many "jobs" or "ideas" I played with, because I was just a kid, a kid "playing".
I've always like the word "play" because it takes away the pressure of messing up and changing direction. The result doesn't matter, as you can always keep playing.
So this is what I wrote:
I create with the main purpose of having fun and connecting with my inner child. Art is a medium to express and connect through emotions.
I truly believe that when you are having fun the greatest thing happen: the best moments, stories and ideas. My intention with each piece and project I create is to make people feel like kids. Free to dream, play and celebrate.
The helmet collection embodies that genuine playfulness and two worlds that I love. Fashion and Formula 1.
