I spoke with Ziggy Yang @longmuse_ about a machine that does what many find difficult: giving a sincere compliment. Born from the ”shell“ of East Asian emotional culture, this interactive megaphone uses a custom AI pipeline to identify a stranger‘s style and praise them in the artist’s own cloned voice. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀: - The AI Assist: The project’s success was tethered to the rapid evolution of LLMs and voice models between 2024 and 2025, moving from ”laggy“ recognition to real-time interaction. This make the project a relic of that time. - Standardizing Interaction: For Ziggy, the path to collectibility lies in ”productizing“ the system—moving away from fragile web-dependent setups toward standalone kits that a collector can activate without a technician. For the collector, this is an acquisition of a ritual. It is the purchase of a system that ”looks“ for humanity in 0.2 seconds and responds with a programmed kindness. 𝘌𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘤𝘰𝘭, 2024 "Emotion Protocol" is a kinetic installation that juxtaposes human nature's emotional complexity with the rigid, machine-like existence imposed by societal and familial expectations. The installation represents this contrast through rotating four-faced Buddha statues driven by a mechanical system. Resin, Stepper Motor, Acrylic, Customized PCB 36 x 36 × 43 1/4 in.
