Part 2 from previous post… So please help me empty some of these boxes and buy a @kissweh pillow. (I sound like a huckster but this is no Trump bible.) We’re lucky that many have made it out before the bombing and survive to preserve Palestinian history. From Kissweh: “Women in historic Palestine traditionally embroidered their clothes and home accessories when preparing their trousseau, or kissweh. The traditional folk motifs were passed down from generation to generation and were associated with the villages and regions they came from, and reflected the dreams and aspirations of the women who embroidered them.”
This song Heaven Scent by Soulwax with Chloe Sevigny wasn’t available in the IG music so I hope it’s ok I did a screen record to get it…
I can almost guarantee your mom would love one. They are made by women, sold by women, shipped by women and don’t forget, fuchsia is a neutral @communedesign . They’re available at kissweh.com as well as @heathceramics ; @jleighwms ; @garzamarfa ; and @oroboro . Thank you @loistryk & @jaymiedevan !
These boxes of pillow inserts are sitting in my living room because the US is funding NETANYAHU ISRAEL’S GENOCIDE and illegal war of expansion in Lebanon. Thank you @sensanders for trying to stop it!
The inserts are here in LA awaiting the pillow cases made by the amazing @kissweh team of artists. Heath Ceramics commissioned a special color collection of @Kissweh - and @heathceramics knows their colors! - but the beautifully crafted pillow cases are stuck in Lebanon, and the women who made them had to flee THEIR REFUGEE CAMPS. The US is funding the bombing of Palestinian women MAKING PILLOWS living in refugee camps! What is happening!?
The least I can do is try to encourage you all to buy a beautiful Kissweh pillow with the pillows which made it out before the bombing available at KISSWEH.COM. And I have plenty of inserts for them! Please share. They’re heirloom pieces which are also hearty so you can let children and animals around them - just maybe not men. It’s lovely thinking about the women methodically stitching each stitch, like a kind of peaceful meditation, sitting with tea… living life as it should be led if women were in charge… but instead they’re fleeing the bombing of their refugee camp… not allowed to exist anywhere. Stitch by stitch we’ll all stay united against this cabal of violence against women and children and the planet. A story for another time, but I took a heroic dose of mushrooms (love that term) to help me with my alcoholism and had a powerful vision of the Kissweh pillows connecting us and creating change. I was in a house in the Hollywood Hills (not mine!) and I thought about all the people in the fancy houses around me and how many of them would feel angry seeing a pillow made by a Palestinian, and how that needs to change. If they can’t see the humanity in a Palestinian person, perhaps they can see the humanity in a pillow? Nevertheless, they existed.
Thank you Team Kissweh and @loistryk and @jaymiedevan
