A friendly reminder from one of our patients: we all share these waters together. 🐢🌊 It is vital to practice safe and responsible boating to help protect both marine life and our community on the water.
The Perry J. Cohen Foundation’s Boating Safety and Ocean Stewardship Course gives boaters the knowledge and confidence to stay safe while helping preserve the waters we all enjoy.
Sign up today and help make a difference this season. Link in bio! 🌊
This #EndangeredSpeciesDay, we’re reminded of the importance of celebrating and protecting the incredible creatures we share our oceans with.
Thanks to continued conservation efforts, green sea turtles have been removed from the endangered species list, and with your continued support, we hope to see more creatures around the world given that same chance for recovery. 🌊
The strength of collaboration was evident during a recent trip to Key Largo, where Loggerhead Marinelife Center joined Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society, Key Largo Dive Center, and Reef Renewal USA, Inc. in hands-on coral restoration work. Together, the team helped cut, clean, and outplant hundreds of corals to strengthen the future of Florida’s Coral Reef, a critical habitat for sea turtles.
Stay tuned for more of this impactful field experience building the capacity for future collaborations and conservation efforts.
All activities were conducted under Reef Renewal USA permit #FKNMS-2026-057.
This collaborative effort was made possible through the generosity of the Palm Beach International Boat Show Gives Back program, whose support helps advance critical ocean conservation initiatives like this one. 🪸
We have officially surpassed 1,000 sea turtle nests this nesting season 🐢🏖️✨
This incredible count includes both loggerhead and leatherback nests and represents a win for conservation and research. Every nest adds valuable insight into nesting behavior and helps us better understand both returning nesters and new ones coming ashore 📊🌊
Want to learn more about nesting season and sea turtles up close? As a partner with Palm Beach Culture and part of the #MOSAIC program, we are offering BOGO on any Loggerhead Marinelife Center public guided tour experience throughout May 🐢✨

Meet this week’s Turtle Tuesday patient: Buster!🐢
Buster is currently being treated for a severe lung infection. Last Thursday, our veterinary team performed a bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL). During this process, a small amount of sterile fluid is introduced into the airways and then recovered to help gather cells and material from the lower respiratory tract. This helps us confirm that Buster is receiving the most effective antibiotics possible. Once the lab results come back, our team will either adjust the treatment plan or continue with the current medications.
The good news? Buster is clinically doing well, eating great, and staying happy in their tank while continuing treatment. 💚
Every patient’s recovery journey looks a little different, and diagnostics like these play an important role in giving sea turtles the best chance at healing and returning home to the ocean. Stay tuned for more Turtle Tuesday patient spotlights each week! 🌊
This Mother’s Day, we celebrate mothers both on land and at sea.🐢
From those who shape life at home to those nesting on our beaches, they all remind us of what instinct, strength, and devotion look like in their most powerful form. Whether raising children or creating the next generation beneath the sand, mothers carry a shared story of care and resilience.💚
Meet Dolly, a loggerhead × hawksbill hybrid and one of Florida’s rarest ocean stories. 🐢✨
Genetically confirmed 50% loggerhead and 50% hawksbill, she blends traits from both species in remarkable ways, from her nesting behavior to her egg production. She was first encountered in 2021 and fitted with a satellite tag. Since then, Dolly has returned multiple times, offering an extraordinary look into sea turtle migration, reproduction, and resilience.
Fun fact: Genetics of her hatchlings show that they are typically 75% loggerhead and 25% hawksbill, indicating that she mates with loggerhead males!
